Immigration Bill Defeated!!!!!!!!!! Maybe this Country Does have a Chance!

After months of battles in the Senate, Americans have showed that they will do whatever it takes to defend this republic. The Immigration bill which the so called conservative Bush pushed for has been crushed! :)

This is truly a victory for Americans who don't want our country to be over run by third world population(which has unfortunately already happened to a large extent). Now that we've done this, the only thing we have left is to get Ron Paul in office, and then he will take care of the immigration issue for good.

Wow, this is truly a great month. I was terrified that the bill would pass, but now I'm ready to go celebrate. Anybody feel like ordering a pizza? LOL

I will have a slice with the money I save on the entitlements these people receive. :)

The day gets even better. The Supreme Court ruled that bussing based only on racial status is illegal. I do feel all schools should be equal.

And then the Fed did not raise the interest rate.

No one I knew of. Hopefully the democrats will come up with something better this next time around.

First and foremost, the borders need to be secured. They can't do anything else to combat a problem, unless they address it at the root. The borders are the root cause. Secure them, then begin dealing with the problem from the inside out.

Yeah! And it's not just the mexican border like everyone thinks... most people think this is a war-on-mexicans, NO! securing our borders, to me, is more a matter of national security... having easily crossable borders is just inviting trouble... keeping jobs for the Americans is just a perk...

^ my opinion anyways, maybe it is a war-on-mexicans and im just not informed

Are you going to cut grass, pick orange, straw berries etc?

Or you want the illegals as slaves for ever to do all the work you don't wanna do? May be you like the status quo so that you can have all the cheap labour in the world. You are not letting them have basic rights you yourself have just for the simple fact that they are born on the other side of a border. Remember that you could have been born any where on the planet like Afghanistan, Somalia or any of those crazy places. Only thing on your side is the PURE LUCK to have born in USA.

It is not that "we" are not allowing them basic rights. They chose to come here illegally and are choosing to work in jobs where they have less of a chance of getting caught for being here illegally. I think even jobs that are considered as "low" belong to the people that are here legally.

Nah, different subject. They went over to kill your buds that you defend.

Meanwhile, in Darfur, your buds are killing hundreds of thousands and you never have a peep. I guess you don't mind when muslims are slaughtering others, huh?

I never seen any US citizens picking oranges or straw berries. Even if they are willing to work, do you think you will be able to afford to have your daily dose of orange juice. If you pay the hourly rates at which US citizens work, then the prices of vegetables and fruits are going to go up the roof.
Now if you choose to keep the agriculture laborers away, then American farmers are going out of business. You can let the third world produce all the food. But then the agricultural subsidies has to go.

Raise the minimum wage or pay better wages for those jobs and people will come. Pass on the cost to us. The reason illegal immigrants work those jobs is because they are backbreaking labor intensive low wage jobs and nobody wants to do them for minimum wage.

Well said....all European Americans are immigrants to the US....maybe they should think about that before referring to Mexicans and Asians as 'immigrants'

Are you sure you wanna pay $40 for a pound of your vegetables instead of the $4 per pound you are paying now?

The real issue here is the "elites" using illegal immagrants as cheap labor, and having that labor subsidized by the taxpayers. Immigrants come and will go to hospitals, schools etc. and will use other resources, while the employers only have to pay out a fraction of the labor costs a citizen would get. This happens all over the world. It's the same concept when the export manufacturing jobs. The actual cost to consumers isn't much, if at all, different (e.g., Nike), but the brass and the markets make more.

So it's the downtrodden of these countries pitted against one another by those who profit from the price differential.

BTW, you might want to read what de Tocqueville wrote about the availability of cheap labor (slave labor in his example) and what it does to those owning the slaves.

What an incredibly racist post. Do you realize this? You assume that all immigrants are good for is cutting grass, picking oranges etc.

Did you know that no one forces illegals to come here. They come by their own choice. They are paid (paltry) wages for what they do.

Also, did you know; that the field worst hit by illegal aliens (agriculture) is only 30% illegals? The rest of the jobs are done by Americans.

Also, did you know; we have 12 million illegals in this country. We have about 7 million Americans who are without jobs (for one reason or another). Seems like they are taking jobs that some americans could do, if someone else wasn't doing it. Not great paying jobs, but jobs that get them off the dole at least.

What rights are they being denied? They can get housing. They can get medical care. Medical care is -free- for them by law. Which raises everyone's bill in this country. What rights are they being denied?

    This is about border enforcement.

Illegal aliens don't appear out of the ether and come into this country. They have a home where they come from. Many come from Mexico, yes, but this is only important because mexico does have elections. So people incoming from mexico have a direct say in how their country is run. If they are voting and their economy still sucks, they are directly responsible for the conditions there. If they do not vote, they are indirectly responsible for the conditions there.

There is a pathway to legal immigration in this country. Many people take it each year. People who break the law getting into this country do not deserve any special treatment (an easy path to citizenship) just because the politicians don't have the will to enforce our laws.

How do you know this? Do you know any illegal immigrants?
I had a friend who was in a motorcycle accident and they had to use a helicopter to transport him, plus surgeries and around 2 weeks in the hospital. The bill was $200.000. The guy was illegal(not mexican, romanian) and he could have just packed and leave. He reasoned with the hospital and paid $50.000 in 4 years.
I read about the free medical care for illegals before on this forum. Where do you come up with this?
Maybe America should stop paying welfare and send some people to work.
But no, the citizens are fed this b.s. about mexicans taking their jobs and they have to pay for their medical expenses.

And this anti-immigration attitude is soooo racist...You only hear whites complaining about latinos. There are other illegals here, too. Lots. But they blend in because they have lighter skin
