Also the more you update your site the more often that crawler drops by.

Posting website link in signature of any high traffic forum like DP is a one way for fast crawling of new site...

U can also get crawl your site quickly by getting backlinks from site having high PR or site which are crawled frequenlty by major search engines...

DP signatures are certainly not a good way of getting indexed.

It seems to work for many other members including myself. What is your reasoning to your opinion?

Ok, have a read of this 9 page thread where an extensive test of DP signature links was conducted.

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=231456&highlight=signature+experiment

Secondly, see my recent blog post?

That has been there as a SEO experiment since 28th February 2007. I have posted in PR3 threads, with over 1,500 posts. It took from Feb 28th until May 26th to get the page cached (3 months), and the page hasn't been re-cached since.

Search for my anchor text even in quotes "Virtual Memory Optimization" i'm nowhere to be found from just 986 results.

Now check the main blog (1 click off my recent blog page) not cached after all this time. And honestly, i don't think i would even be cached still by DP links if a site hadn't Scraped my experiment page and got it cached.

Now if it works for you and many others, can you show me the reasoning for your opinion?

create a sitemap.xml and verify it in google webmaster tools and manually submit the site to google.

Yes, and it could take months.. Provided it even gets indexed at all from sig links.

It's a pity there's so many people like the guy above me, who keep spreading unfounded information like a 99c ebook on autoplay.

Along with my recent blog post experiment, i done a number of others including a freshly regged .com in my signature and after 8 weeks it still wasn't cached/indexed from signature links alone.

No good SEO would recommend signature links here as a viable backlink building solution. By all means include them for click throughs, and the odd chance one of those click throughs buys a product or links you because you have a good site. But do not waste money buying signature links, or expecting them to do much at all.

But be sure to add your sig to all forums site like dp.. do social bookmarkings, and possible try to link exchange to a high quality, good pagerank and has a high traffic site.Update your site always.. But the most important of all is that you need to have a "Good Content".

MMMM does DP have a no follow attribute?

I have a new site I just did as well, link in sig. My first way of promoting was directory and search engine submission, the following day, yesturday, I had it submitted to about 35 social bookmarking websites.

It hasn't been 48 hours yet, but we havnt yet been indexed, even with the sig in my link... So, google works mysteriously sometimes I guess.
