Buy some links and advertising on game forums. Do some viral marketing by hiring posters to talk about your site in general topic forums.

Which site are you promoting? I mean the theme of the site. I would not recommend you to go for Adwords as you will quickly exhaust your funds without any long term benefit. You should buy some lifetime links, or get your site submitted to directories, basically use it in a way so that the results you get are long lasting.
the site is movie/entertainment/humor related. This is why I feel adwords would be a bad choice. Long term benefits is really what I am looking for.
maybe bellow the line material is what you looking for making printing and spread it in your targeted people
there are some pretty good marketing offers here on DP you might try out...not huge risk either...like submission to bookmarking sites maybe.
Put your efforts towards Adwords, it should gets you results in few minutes if you know how to use its system
I would suggest hiring a content writer to produce some Squidoo lenses. Google is giving Squidoo lenses a lot of high rankings at the moment. Squidoo itself is free to use. The sort of site you mention is ideal for a social networking site, which Squidoo basically is. You could get on the front page of Google for some long tail keywords. Then buy some articles and submit them to high ranking directories, with a link to your lens. This helps make it "stick" on the front page.
Definitely social bookmarking...if you use all the services at DP, it will add up to bunch of links for peanuts!
