i got hold of a list of recently deleted domains and as i was perusing i came across the following three

    cgi3-paypal-recovery-login.com
    cgibin-sessionid-4546565478lm562145459eda67.net
    cgibin-webscrs.net

now i wonder what those were going to be used for?

ill bet they were thinking of setting up a used furniture store on the first one.

possibly a drug paraphenalia store at the second one (it says session in the url)

    no idea for the third

hjave you ever come across any ridiculous domains that are obviously only ever going to be used for scams and why the hell would i be allowed to register this in the first place?

    your thoughts

You're allowed to register them because it would be impossible to do anything about it by manual review or by automated machine.

It's up to companies to protect their trademarks and it's up to the cops to deal with criminals after they commit a crime. It's not a crime to register a domain name.

    i guess

thats like selling machine guns to kids and saying "its up to the cops to stop them if they shoot someone"

    basically pass the buck again

it will be a strange world when someone actually takes some responsibility for something.

how about ...no you shut up

why exactly am i talkin out of my ass if i want people to start taking some responsibility for things.

all comes down to the fact that money is more important to people than anything else. obviously thats exactly where you stand mcorbur88

i imagine your someone who approves of bullets and guns being sold in every store you can think of. i can see the red neck from here

what can you use a gun for other than killing people? self defence? you can slap my ass if thats where you think im talkin from

I've had fraudulant charges made on a couple credit cards and my bank account.

So far I've been out zero point zero zero dollars and zero cents.

People get scammed all the time by nice looking domains. It's not up to the government to restrict what domains can be registered and which can't because someone "might" be scammed by it. It's up to the consumers to not be stupid and not do business with banks and credit card companies that don't have fraud protection.

this started out with finding some domains which were obviously for phishing use and i was asking what peoples opinions were around these being allowed to be registered then i got pissed of when some ten your old said i was talking out of my ass.

now we seem to be in a moral discussion

i think its wrong to try and scam people and others obviously dont

    Okay, I got you..

I dont think anyone can stop anyone from registering any domain, whatever the intention would be behind.

    Yes, its wrong..

Nobody said scamming people was okay.

I said it's personal responsibility to avoid being scammed.

It's not the government's job to protect you from the world. You have to grow up and learn to take care of yourself.

Oh my... damn dude I cant believe you just said that.

Comparing a Machine Gun to a domain name? Lmfao...

Only some person who wasn't ready for the internet yet but still insisted on taking on the internet and doing all the "e-biz" stuff (but still was a moron in the head as far as the internet was concerned, never read a guide, never did his research) would fall for something like that.

And those people deserve to be scammed, since like Kalvin rightly said:

    IT
