Category page content

Content is king right, so is it a good idea to add content to a category page? Lets say there is a "Food" category which lists lots of good food sites. Is it a good idea to add extra content to this page relating to food?

Thought about retrieving dynamic content from the keyword "food". Maybe also get keywords specific to the sites displayed in the category too.

Are there any services that do this? I'm guessing it won't be unique content so is to a waste of time? Am I talking any sense?

You make alot of sense and this has been discussed before, not sure of the outcome. I have seen it on other sites though so I'm pretty sure it exists. I'd write it myself or pay a good content writer to write ~350 words a category though. If you find one post it here.

My directory is written from scratch in asp.net. Silly question but what content would be suitable for a category page?

Be nice if the site could automatically pull in this content from an external source. Does such a service exist?

i think each page should have content. that way the submitter gets backlinks from pages with content, rather than just a page of links.

    Hello...

I myself am experimenting with adding news feeds as well as articles
Not only to make sure that pages stay out of supps but also to give
my submitters something of their common interest so...

    EX: http://www.sleekdirectory.com/Automotive/

I like the idea myself so.. :)

    thx
