Its a penalty by Google which drops ur sites ranking in Google Search :(
i.e. if u r ranking 1 in Google for some keyword after this penalty your site will move down 950 Positions (10th Page) for the same keyword :(

Sheez, thats pretty tough especially if you have done the hard work of getting into the top 10. Would it be possible to regain your position?

I have heard of the "30 penalty" but not the 950. Is there a source of where this info is from.

The 30 penalty is the same as 950 but it drops you 30 positions. Haven't seen any concrete evidence so it would be good if someone provides more info.

Yes, this link has the answer.

A website could have this penalty applied if does not follow the G webmaster guidelines. There are no directions regarding this from G., maybe we will have more details about this in the near future.

Many people have suffered from this penalty. I had a site that outdid many university sites before it got hit with the -30 penalty. This resulted in a search using the domain www. mysite .com coming in at position 31. For terms it was top ten for it would be number 31. If you searched obscure things (eg a ten word search); and there were 100 results for it the site would be number 31, but if there were only 15 results then the site would be number 15.
The simplest way of checking if you have the penalty is to do a search using your full domain name. If you are number one then the reason for a drop in SERPS is probably the sandbox factor, change in algo or competition from other sites.
The penalty lasted for about 2 months.

I think it is some indication of the sandbox effect, but the effect coming later than before.

i think it's a punishment for people who say "it's easy ro rank google" or "i get 1 position on google in 6 hours:)" and i believe it's a part of sandbox

Finally someone getting that right, instead of going on about it all being a myth. Everything about google penalties seems to be a myth for people until they experience it first hand.

I've got sites suffering from exactly this right now, going on for almost two months. But it's not -30, it's more like -60.

    Back to -950 Penalty
The Explanation of -950 Penalty was from my Experience
    my site : www.bannedstuff.net
Used ranking 1 In google for Keyword Banned Stuff
but due to some hosting problems (the host which I used... sucked...my site was down for 3-4 days until I moved to other server) after that when checked for the Keyword Banned Stuff in Google ... I found it no where :( and it dropped from Page 1 to Page 10 (950 Positions down)

Hence it is called Google's -950 Penalty :p
