Paypal Limited My Account

Hello my Digital Point friends :) To make it easier for those reading, here is some background information before I begin:

    1. I live in the United States (Ohio)
    2. I have been searching old topics on DP and various other sites for a few hours already, and am now creating my own topic for re-assurance.

I recently turned 18 years old (the beginning of June) and I opened my own bank account. Around the middle of June, I opened up a PayPal account, as I wanted to get involved with some transactions in DP's buy/sell/trade forum. About a week ago, I verified my bank account instantly on PayPal, and requested that $100 be withdrawn from my bank account to my PayPal account.

This morning, I received an e-mail from PayPal stating the following:

Two minutes later, I received this e-mail:

About 40 minutes later, of course, I received an e-mail from PayPal stating that my $100 transaction was complete (Funny, now I can't access it until I'm no longer limited now).

In my PP resolution cented, there are five "Steps to Remove Limitations". Do I have to complete all five of these steps? Since I just turned 18, and I don't have a credit card, I obviously cannot complete that one. The third option, which stated "Fax or upload documentation", is the one that I attempted. I uploaded (did not fax) a copy of my state-id, and my most recent bank statement. I also uploaded a letter explaining that I cannot provide a CC statement.

Through my research on the Internet, I really couldn't find specific issues similar to mine. I saw many international, under-aged, phishing, or large-cash-transaction problems; none of which really fit my case.

So, are there any suggestions? Should I wait it out, or just contact PP by phone (is there a toll free number?)?

Thanks to anyone that can provide assistance.

Yes, calling Paypal would be definitely a good option and be willing to assist them as much as possible to remove the limitation.

It may take a few days to get this resolved. There are too many suspicious accounts started by suspicious characters and now Paypal is just trying to be more pro-active when it comes to security.

Thanks for the response, I'll likely give them a call later once I make sure I have everything I feel I will need prepared ahead of time. Now then, does anyone know of a toll free number for PayPal? I saw some numbers while checking around on the Internet, but I'd feel more comfortable if a DP member could verify a number that they may know of.

And, of course, more suggestions are still being listened to if necessary ;)

To get their official number what you can do is Log Into your Paypal account then at the bottom of the page you will find a 'Contact Us' link, click on it and then click on 'Contact By Phone', you should get some numbers to call.

This happend to me a few days ago. I got my account restored in 5 minutes.
First call Paypal, I used skype to do that.
And say paypal account, then say limited account, then say agent.
Then start talking to the guy, say that your account is limited, and you need it restored. He will ask you a few questions, your email account with Paypal. Your phone number with Paypal, your 4 last digit of your bank account.
On mine I had to do 3 steps to get the account restored:
    - Change password (Done)
    - Change security question (Done)
    - Confirm address (Requires Credit Card) -> I said this to the agent, I don't have a credit card, and I can't confirm my address.
Then he said hold on. And after a few minutes he said account restored.

Are they toll free numbers for everyone to use or is it for a particular country?
I guess UK residents couldn't use them if there was a problem with paypal?

Thanks for the information guys. I contacted PayPal by phone just a few minutes ago, and the person on the phone was cooperative, and stated that he'd put a note on my account stating my circumstances for the review department to see. Although he said it could take a few days, he stated that there's a good chance I may receive an e-mail a few hours from now telling me the result. Hopefully it's positive, so that I won't be one of those people who fall into the negative PayPal pool ;)

See such situations with tons of members of my money making forum.
Most probably you will just have to send them a fax with all info about you, like id, utilitybil etc etc, and they will unblock it for you.

Normal procedure to ensure safety from paypal's end, nothing to worry about.

    Regards
    DL

Just thought I'd provide some closure on the situation. PayPal FINALLY sent me an email on July 20th stating that my account was activated again. It was really an agonizing wait of nearly a month, but I'm thrilled that it's finally operable again.

I didn't have to add a credit card to it. Due to the bank account issue originally though, PayPal forgot to allow that account back into the system. Therefore, I'm going to have to wait again for them to permit that account into the system in order for my account to be deemed "verified".
