Hi all, wanted to find out . . . how do I get out of Google's Supplemental index if any of my pages are there? Thanks! Schnibitz
Links... Links... and then when you're done that?? Throw some more targeted links at the page... he he... cheeky.. but true.
Links are good, but there is more to it. You have to look at the over all site to see what you are doing.. Do you have low or no links, are you using other peoples content, have a side bar worth of text that is the same on all pages. bad url structure, hell even repetitive titles can do it.
I did had 18000 pages in supplemental index. Changed some onpage things and now it is around 10,500 supplemental pages. Links also play an important role but sometimes the site if tuned properly can be beneficial.
links...... and if your site/blog used WP, you can customize robots.txt to disallow supplemental potential pages. e.g. */feed or */trackback and you can customize the header files of your WP themes with robots meta tag to not index but follow option at the pages with potential being supplemental index. e.g. your tags header
Everyone who is new and develops a new website, may end up in supplemantal results. Even if you have unique content, but don't have links, you can end up in supplemental results. But also, as we know, Google do not recommands to buy links. You have to be patient (hell with that), and wait for others to link to you. Why should they link to you? Because you came up with a great, awasome, unseen "valuable resourse". Also the people who are willing to talk about you, should place your link on a higher page rank page then 0. But today when most of big site owners, with higher page rank, are selling links for good money or contextual links on their blogs, the chance is extremly LOW. So let's check this out one more time: 1. In theory, you are not allowed to buy/sell links. 2. In practice 90% of webmasters are selling links. 3. Because you are "young and wrestless" (at least on the Internet), and because you hardly can come with something really NEW....almost nobody will link to you. Basically, you don't have much chances in avoiding supplemental results. Of course, you can say that you are going to sue Google....or make a digital picture with an Adsense check (make sure that it's over $100.000)......maybe this way you can attract some visitors and why not, some BLs. I just performed a check for avivadirectory.com one of the most highly promoted websites, with thousands of links, from relevant sites: site: www. avivadirectory. com *** -fdgfdgg Guess what? Over 6.000 supplemental results. Being, in supplemental results may hurt you only if 98% of your visitors are sent by Google.
Visit http://www.seologs.com/supplimental-results-check.html By the way I have foud that some pages of my site exist the both supplimental and index
you need to find more backlinks for your site. the main criteria for supplemental results is page rank. you can read http://www.seo4fun.com/notes/supplementals.html to get more tips about supplemental results
Page rank...hogwash. It's all about duplicate content. I have a post about this on my blog as of today when I saw Dave Naylor had posted the same hogwash. G-Man
That was my problem with supplementals. Links are only a part of the equation. I had a bunch of pages with high quality links, but ended up in the supplemental due to duplicate content which has now been taken care of.
Now Google decided not to show webmasters which sites do not indexed in the main SERP. That ean that you will not be able to see the message “supplemental result†in the SERP. However, you are still able to see those pages is you use site:http://www.domen.com/&
