Question: Getting into the top 10?

Discussion in 'Search Engine Optimization' started by ipwatchdog, Jun 26, 2007.

My site IPWatchdog.com has been online since 1999 and I have a PR of 6. In Yahoo, MSN and Google I am in the top 10 for a lot of phrases, but I would call these phrases the second tier phrases. For the top tier phrases I rank from just out of the top 10 to lower second page or some even on the third page.

Can anyone offer me a solution for getting to the top 10 with these top tier phrases? I have been particularly frustrated by those where I am just outside the top 10. Any solutions or suggestions? Any services that you know work, or could potentially work for this situation? My problem seems to be that the services out there that I have seen are geared toward a site that is nowhere to start, or a site that is willing to accept placement for third tier phrases.

    Thanks.

Write more pages on your site which are rich in the keywords you target. They should have a keyword density of more than 6%.

Also find the competitors above your rank and see how many quality backlinks they've got? Beat them then. Simple.

    More help? PM me.

Feel free to PM me the keyword info if you want to work something out. I can basically guess your targeted terms by browsing the site, and can assist with your rank.

Well here is what you should focus on.

    -gov/edu backlinks (along relevant content)
-get at least 3 pr7 backlinks with the keyword you want in the title for example:

you want the keyword : ip watcher

so heres the anchor: IP Watcher
description: IP Watcher....description here...IP Watcher (yes include the keyword twice)

-Have at least 3-5 blog reviews and not just any blogs, target blogs with a high CTR for links in the posts/reviews. (basically youll need at least 5 clicks on your link from those blogs)

    hope that helps :)

Well try to find review blogs, such as techcrunch, the only reason people go there is to find new sites, much like stumbleupon but more effective, since they dont use no follow links on the posts all links give out an amazing boost in google.

    These blogs will have :

    1. high traffic
    2. great alexa rank
    3. at least 30 comments per entry
    4. around 1000 feed readers
basically look for blogs where people comment alot!
that shows a blog is not only receiving traffic but its also responding to the site it has just reviewed.

Buy some links over at www.text-link-ads.com . Buy a few reviews over at www.payperpost.com . Make sure that your Titles tags are in-line with the keywords you'd like to rank for. Create new pages with unique content for specific keywords you'd like to rank for. You have an old site with a decent amount of links pointing to it, so it shouldn't be very hard at all to rank well.

    Thanks Voasi.

I have tried Payperpost, but was not happy with the quality of what was written. It seems like the bloggers who took my offer were mostly ones who speak English as a second language. The sentence structure didn't make any sense, there were spelling mistakes and some were written in what appeared to be Internet slang appropriate for Instant Messages.

I have told others on this Forum this and they were surprised. I am not adverse to this type of activity, but did I do something wrong when submitting my Payperpost offer? Are there any more reliable services?

    Thanks.

    Fox-

Thanks for the input. Developing quality back links in this area is not so easy. My site is already one of the top PR sites for this niche. The best links for me would be to other informational sites, but most are government sites and associations. Maybe I need to open up the advertising dollars.

It was probably the price. When you submit to PPP, anyone can go after it. If you want the big boys to take a look at it, offer for me. Also, make sure you get rid of 3rd level blogs when choosing preferences. Another suggestion would be to use www.SponsoredReviews.com . There you have people actually bid on your work and you can see their blog before you accept them. Also, www.ReviewMe.com is another good suggestion.

But also try www.text-link-ads.com or www.linkworth.com or www.textlinkbrokers.com . They're all pretty good, TLA being the best, IMO.

Also, submit a couple articles to other people in the same vertical as you, requesting that they link back to your site within the copy. This can be an excellent way to get exposure and, of course, more links.
