Today while checking my mail i saw something new in my SPAM folder. I usually don't read all message from there but i was amassed to see that i had an email from Paypal in my SPAM folder. This never happened before. Why is Gmail treating them as spam? Could it be because of the war from this two big companies?
Are you sure it was actually from PayPal and NOT a phishing spoof designed to look like it came from PayPal? I've had those come to my Gmail and they go right where they belong: to the Spam box.
That shouldn't happen imo. Nothing with a war between the companies for sure. Maybe it was a fake email or the description for the payment contained something suspicious.
You can always check by passing your mouse over the email link and seeing if it matches in the status bar at the bottom of your browser or forward to and they will let you know if it is legit.. that sounds like a fake address.
I too get emails from paypal .. that are coming direclt come to inbox .. i think you made something wrong in settings
This is no fishing email, nor i made anything wrong in setting.. this is simple a Gmail error. Anyway i am waiting for Paypal response to make sure.
Gmail never filters out my genuine PayPal emails but can spot a spoof at a hundred paces. Must just be a glitch in the matrix!
Nah... the one u found in ur Spam box is for sure a spam mail from ppl who are trying phish ur acc... it shld be something like : @paypal.com or @email.paypal.com something... Paypal only sends emails from service @intl.paypal.com
DO NOT TRUST your status bar!! (lower left of the browser) I saw that same email too. It's not that difficult to fake that thing, you just need to change the onMouseOver of the link. You must always read the html source of the email to be sure if it's phishing or not.
The easiest way, I already mentioned: forward it to and they'll verify it, usually within 24 hrs or less.
You should look for the address you see in the status bar (lower left of the browser). Once you see it, just check how is written. If you see < a href="paypaladdress"> something< /a> it means it's ok if you see < a onMouseOver="window.status='paypaladdress'; return true" onMouseOut="window.status=''" href="fake-paypal-address"> something < /a> This is a phishing email. Note the code that changes the appereance of the status bar AND the href which is pointing to another url.
