PHP versus .net

    I am a php programmer and some partners ask me if I know .net.

    What .net platform include and how can you sed for net.Also please recomend me some good books about .net.

    Who is better PHP or .net platform and why .net projects are pay more then php projects?

    Two big reasons here

    - PHP is 99.9% a web site only language. .NET also covers other types of applications such as windows applications. So in that case obviously it'll pay more since that's more complicated.

    - Big businesses use .NET or Java while PHP seems to be more for small to medium sized who will not pay $100,000/yr for a guy. They won't even if they wanted a .NET person.


    As for what language is better? No language is better it's just the one that is best suited for the job.

    I am a php/MySQL developer but my employer wants me to learn ASP.NET/SQL Server 2005/Visual Development Studio 2005. Honestly if you want to earn the $$$ learn .NET (ASP, VBasic, etc.), Java, and Transact-SQL. Now I'm having to obtain my MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) certification in order to learn the material (which is quite expensive). Do it now before you have to learn it in a crunch.

    As far as which is better, it depends on what you are doing. .NET development will save you a lot of time from having to code many things with the click of a button, but PHP will sometimes give you greater control over certain details. Really it depends on the job, honestly. If someone is running an Apache server it's PHP all day, but once we get over to IIS, it's time for .NET apps.
