as most of you know myspace has been trying to stop spam by making captchas, and making all urls go through msplinks.com , how do you think they should have stopped, it or what should they have done to keep it from getting out of hand?
I think they've gotten real control over spam now. I'm noticing a considerable increase in traffic from my bulletins and comments.
Do you think there could;ve been an easy way to stop it? the reason im asking is because im starting a site and i want to make it extremely hard for spam to start...
I don't think it was easy. I think they got aggressive and went directly after the major offenders with law suits. I sure that their size and alliances with other companies made it possible to shut down a lot of spammers.
I have a question about SPAMing. In what situation submiting blog submission is consider as spam? I have a blog introducing my company product. Is that consider a spam when i submit to digg.com?
They are doing their best to protect the users from the spam, but they will be one step behind... always
They have access to millions of dollars and they have started to put it to right use as far as spam goes they still have a long way to go! Spammers are innovators!
I believe spamming helps the internet in the sense that most website owners have to delve deeply into finding technology that works in slowing do the spammers. Don't believe for on minute that spamming is a small time hustler's mode of operating as spammers also have some of the most advanced programming tools at their disposal and work in tandem some of the most advanced hackers in internet technology. It's big business worth billions of dollars to provide security to large corporate networks from the spammers and also big business developing new spamming tools that can circumvent the security setups of websites like Digg, Facebook or mySpace. The programmer who provides the service to the spammers on the one hand may be the very programmer who provides the security setup to protect against spammers on the other hand, therefore this becomes a very lucrative ordeal once you begin to do business with both sides. Fact! Spamming is Black Hat SEO and there are some very advanced ways of infiltrating any network of choice that are way ahead of their time, therefore the anti-spam supporters will always be playing catch up to the inovation of spamming technologies. When success is achieved against the spammer it is simply because you have managed to figure out the workings of an old technique that the advanced spammers are no longer interested in as it is now being used by every Jack and his Jill out there.
Sounds like your trying to rationalize practices that have already been deemed unethical and immoral. To go to an analagous extreme, your saying that murderers are in a way doing us a service because criminal forensics and law enforcement must be improved to catch them as they get better at killing.
Sorry Im new, my question might sounds stupid. SEO is about optimizing and putting your site to get more exposure and get more traffics. Does this have conflict with spaming? How do you know that you are spaming?
There is always 2 side of a coin.. MySpace cant block all the external links as this will surely backfire but it got to be effective enough to curb spamming. I really think they have work out a great solution but of course some of the user may feel a little inconvenience but enjoy lesser spams at the same time. At least you know the other one is a more likely to be a human than a bot. For high volume users who like to know further on solution to unblock your URL, pls check out my signature.
I am surprised they haven't put a spam type filter on all accounts. That looks for words like free, go to, try this..etc
