i just launched a directory and was free till this morning! (coz i have 200 pending links!:( )

but now i have changed it to a regular paid, .....reciprocal free! for 2 reasons!

    1. keep spammy sites out! easy on the approval
2, encouraging sites / directories to get reci links rather than regular links! - automatic link building i guess!:p

Thanks for all the replies. I understand what everyone is saying, and can see the advantage of buying a link on a PR0 page if there is reason to think that its PR will increase later. So I guess I need to learn how to predict whether that will happen.

Thanks again for all the replies.

Dont worry about PR now, if you buy a link from DP member, next update they will get pr for sure. also they spend money on link building and advertising.
so yah just keep submitting sites, at the end of month, it will help your site to get Pr also rank, cheers

oh..ok... nice to see theres a watchdog site for this!
but i really dont agree with the last point there!

unless and untill categorically specified, i think its the webmasters wish if he wants to credit it, or remove it ... and make his site look professional!

Unless it contradicts with point 3

If your taking a free template, and then state "designed by me", then its QBC,

like the software Joomla, if im not mistaken, says its ok to take off "powered by Joomla!"... then that cant be called a QBC by any means!

    this is IMHO

Removing the sponsorship from a free template does little to make someone look professional; especially seeing that it's against the terms of use.

Both the designers and their sponsors provide these templates for free and at their own cost - it's little to ask that the proper attribution and recognition remain in return for the free use of the template.
