What kind of things are you more lenient with when dealing with submissions? Myself i get lots of emails that are not delivered to the recipient (i realise there are a few reasons for that) but they still get into my directory, although im waiting on a mod for v3 phpld that should stop that. Many dont use their name so i will change it to webmaster for their listing, once i had someone put "Gay" as their name, thats alright if you want to be listed as Gay i dont mind. A do lots of editing, putting in capital letters, taking them away, deleting over use of a word, because i dont want to reject a good site for an otherwise empty category for what is sometimes petty things. I have also reconsidered and listed what was first a rejected site, after conversations with site owners i hold my hands up and admit i have rejected a site too quickly, on closer inspection i have seen my own error in rejection of some sites. Moving to categories that are more suitable too or creating one, i will do this the majority of the time, i realise they cant always find a suitable one, sometimes their unsure of where their site should go.
for me, its always moving to appropriate categories as many submitters try to pull a fast one and submit to top-level cats sometimes, they also cannot find the most suitable categories to submit to other than that, its the usual keyword spamming, grammatical errors, spelling, etc. These are things that i cannot be lenient with....
We all have days when we get out on the wrong side of the bed, and reject submissions more freely. I try to look at the overall effort someone has put in to getting the submission right. If they have made a good attempt at getting the right category, and followed guidelines, then I will take a look at the website and often end up approving it. But if it looks as though I'll have to edit every single field extensively, I'll usually delete and move on. It's usually a simple matter of how much effort has gone into getting things right: if I have to do all the work of the submission myself, then I have some perfectly good alternative sources for useful websites, and I can move on to them soon enough.
jl255, its true, many will try their luck and see if they can get away with a top level submission, i totally understand, somethings an owner may feel quite strongly about and wont put up with. Obelia, im with you there too, if i have a migraine or mega tired then it can up the chance of me rejecting, where normally i would of edited and considered more. Yeah if the submitter has done 90% of the work and just requires a bit of tidying up then its not so bad, but as you mention, it can get beyond the joke really.
Yes you are right! I use bots and AI to edit and review links in some of my directories My bot lends out a helping hand to me always
AI And bot editing , that means you don't actually see the websites you are listing ? Well, I ensure that I always visit the actually website, view its content an structure, then ask my self if I can list it.
I'll accept the submission of a really good site - I hand check all submissions - that obviously paid someone who then made a real mess of the submission.
