I just stumbled on a site that has labeled its AdSense ads as "Relevant Links" and I wonder if Google might be alright with that. Or perhaps "Relevant Ads". After all, the first thing you notice on AdSense's website is this sentence: "Earn money from relevant ads on your website". I've just contacted Google with this but what do you guys think ?
Yes it might be a problem. As they are not links. People would consider them as links and try clicking them and as the owner of the sites is giving signs for doing that he might get banned.
Well if they are not links, why does google allow you to label their ads as "Sponsored Links"? I believe google draws the link when you are ENDORSING the links such as "Favourite Sites" Link
Yup. Definitely against TOS. However would you report them? Personally I'm against the whole reporting thing but there you go...
Its against adsense TOS the user might get banned because of this we can only use Sponsored Links or Relavant in the title
No response from Google yet, but why do you guys say it's against the TOS ? "Relevant Links" or "Relevant Ads" is exactly what Google advertises AdSense to be. I'll actually find it weird if Google isn't ok with that labeling.
Ok, just got a reply from Google: ---------- Thanks for your email. We ask that you do not place misleading labels above the ads. While "Relevant Ads" or "Relevant Sponsored Links" is permitted "Relevant Links" does not comply with our program policies. ---------- So "Relevant Ads" is allowed. I'm going to try that out for a while and see if there's a difference in CTR.
Read my last post please. I e-mailed G and they said While "Relevant Ads" or "Relevant Sponsored Links" is permitted "Relevant Links" does not comply with our program policies.
Relevant links sounds like a phrase that sort of makes you think they are the links you should click to get the relevant (correct) information rather than what's on the page. So I think that would be a little against their TOS.
