Would anyone using Joomla please show some working examples. I had a look at Snews and I actually like it, only downside so far is that you have to customise the template your self to get it to it to work. But overall its clean and to the point and you dont have to go searching for lots of plugins if your driving the site by content only Also looking at Drupal more out of curisoity than anything else as have not installed it So everyone says Joomla - could someone post there news site Wordpress is good but its not as flexible without a lot of work to make it run as "magazine" style CMS, IMO
Remo, take a look at http://www.gaiapulse.co.uk/ this website is based on xooArticles script. Let me know if it what you are looking for.
Some examples would be great. I'm trying to do this for one of my sites at the moment and failing miserably...
Have you had a look at iJoomla News Portal extension, visit their user interface and administrator demo pages. Unfortunately it is a commercial licence. If you decide to stop hateing Joomla and use it again I would go for sh404SEF(I don't know if it works with iJoomla News Portal) for SEO purposes as it is the only SEF extension that doesn't creates duplicate URLs.
how about drupal for handling this job I actually am trying to setup a similar site and would also like to intergrate video into anyone else have any thoughts?
You takes a lot of time to load, also on many sites i see that when you scroll down, it takes a 1-2 sec for the page to come down lol.. I really hate joomla... CMS should be easy and fun also its difficult for a site on joomla to migrate.
Joomla is nice, but you're going to be suffering with mile long URLs. There's an addon that fixes it, but I've heard nothing but problems about it. Honestly, if it's a news site - just use Wordpress (with a magazine style theme) or Vivvo (best choice, but not free)
I suggest evaluating Drupal. As a Drupal-fan I can only say that content categorization really rocks. Go and test it if you want. It is completely modular and the essential modules (plugins) are all nice piece of code.
I use Joomla over at DailySportsPages.com But im looking to move to something else, frankly im finding Joomla a bit too to respond and stuff. It doesnt feel like it snaps to me... maybe its my hosting, but my vBull forums respond a lot quicker.
Dam, that's a nice site mate. Custom template? Anyway I would say that as good as sNews is, it is really for blogs also you need to know HTML to write decent styled posts. Not great if you working for a client.
Thanks, its actually a template from joomlashack, just tweaked a bit here and there. They have some really nice templates over there. Im an amateur at this stuff and just learning the ropes.
Honestly, I think Joomla is probablly the best solution. I use it on 3 sites and have been very pleased. Drupal would be my second choice. Good Luck
Yes Wordpress is about as easy as it gets. There are some free newspaper themes that can transform WP into an on-line magazine. With the hep of custom tags achieving this is very simple and effective.
