When I type link:www..... I get a number of backlinks. When I type link: www....... (space between link: and www) I get a different number of links. A much greater number. Why is this happening? Is this the number of links Google uses to define the PR of a site? I have this question and looking for an answer, so if anyone knows..... Thanks.
I noticed that too but didnt really think about it. Quite strange that if you change one small thing you get a different answer from the same(ish) function. I would also want to know the answer. (Is one more updated?)
I tried this now and I think the following: If there is no space it shows the backlinks. But it is not updated so the number is not correct anyway. If there is a space, ex. link: www.domain.com it looks for the text link: and www.domain.com on websites. It is like you do a normal search on google
link:www.example.com shows the links for that site. link: www.example.com shows the number of times that sitename appears on the other sites. They all are not backlinks. I just tried it with my forum. It also bolds Link in the results. Means it is searching for your sitename and word "Link" on pages.
Agree, there is a major difference in commands. One is showing your backlinks and another is showing link word & your domain name appears on the other sites.
So my question now is: Which group of results shows the backlinks, google is taking into consideration, for determining PR?
