I just read an article saying that the new comedy "Evan Almighty" only made $32 million dollars this weekend. It cost something like $175 million to make. I didn't even know it was out! Did anyone see any promotions for this movie at all?? Is it really that bad??
what a world we live in when something makes 32million dollars in 3 days and is considered a failure....
It made 32.1 million, but debuted as the "solid #1"... I think this one will wind up making it's money if it has the "water-cooler" charm that steve carell can cause... but most likely, it's still going to be remembered as another sequel that flopped...
I hope it doesn't flop! I saw the trailer last week and thought it looked hilarious. I didn't know it was the sequel to Bruce Almighty until I Saw the trailer. I thought it was just some silly movie with a similar title. 32 million isn't BAD!
Well its bad for the makers...the ones who invested the money in it.. they never even made what they invested lol cmon think about it..you buy a site worth 1k you wanna make 100$ for 10 months...but it doesn't...wont you feel bad
Well it's only the first weekend, we can always wait to see if it makes anymore money in the coming weeks before jumping to conclusions. Also, DVD sales will eventually help too - most producers go into movies not expecting for the best all the time anyway. Nobody said investments were risk free.
I have this feeling that Evan ALmighty will hit the box office! Why? Are you familiar with Bruce Almighty? That one was really funny. And I think movie like that will be more beautiful after the other^_^.
Yeah it will be more funny if Jim Carrey will still play as the main character ^_^ something like Bruce Almighty 2. hehehe
I wonder why they didn't bring Carey back... Do you think it was a money issue getting him, or do you think they wanted steve carrell because he's getting more and more famous now?
The preveiw looked like it was going to bomb. i wasn't very interested. It looks like i saw the whole movie in the preveiw.
yeah, especially when they show the arc floating down a river in the preview... that shows you that arc is eventually made... just like the titanic, you know it's going to sink, well in this movie, you know its going to get made...
Well when it cost $175 million to make then you are actually losing money if you can't pull in more than that and the first weekend should definitely be higher because it is usually the most profitable
