Start a directory just for footer links, worth the hosting cost?

I use ASP for my sites, therefore I host my sites on a microsoft server... Would it be worth it to pay the $7 a month for a LINUX shared account to start a PHPLD directory just for the backlinks to my sites?

    Thanks!

I think it's definitely not an optimum use of $7/mth if it's only a measly directory link.

Try getting a hosting with multiple domains.
Then host like maybe 20 directories, all linking to your sites :)

If you are just going to run one phpld based directory, why not buy a cheaper hosting like www.3ix.org ($1 a month).

    or

Just get an account from a hosting reseller.

Up until now, the $7/month deal was the cheapest I've found, thanks for the link! +rep added
