The idea of a quote is that it is from someone else... that's why it is a "quote" You said something which we believe in, and that's what some people are doing. I know mine because they on a printed piece of paper on my wall. Not everyone is just going to google and grabbing any random quote...
Try again... Cheers... Dijon vu - the same mustard as before. Practice safe eating - always use condiments. I fired my masseuse today. She just rubbed me the wrong way. Shotgun wedding: A case of wife or death. If electricity comes from electrons... does that mean that morality comes from morons? A man needs a mistress just to break the monogamy. A hangover is the wrath of grapes.
If you notice, I have selected many "quotes" as winners too. The reason being that the said user has had something to say about it. Atleast the concerned person took an effort to write two lines talking about that proverb ? It's quite easy to copy paste or write, one line. If i mere wanted quotes. There are 100 billion sites on the internet I could search for. Get the flow ? When a manual input is asked for, it's always a good idea to let it remain one.
I've only seen the last list... it doesn't phase me enough to go through all 7 pages. Reason I said that was you posted this originally: In saying that, to me that reads as post a quote which means something to you, which a lot of people did. That's why I felt it was a bit off the mark to say all most people were doing was just copying and pasting. They were just doing what you said to do. Not everyone would have thought to explain the meaning behind the quote or why they chose that particular quote out of them all, I know writing about that didn't come to mind for me.
Isn't that common sense ? Especially after seeing the first batch of winners ? My point here is to try and comprehend the beauty of thought. I want peoples' views, dogmas and ideas. i am on the lookout for uniqueness. Read through my post. Even if someone says, "Well begun is half done", I'd want them to cite an example, or atleast strike a corelation between it and the day to day life.
It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it. Sex is like air. It's not important unless you aren't getting any. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them you're a mile away and you have their shoes. Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
Well, I'm not posting just to win an autoblog...nor have I just modified the saying for this purpose. But if you think it's good enough, let the freebie roll into my hand! You see, as a techie, I help many people everyday regarding tech stuff and I feel really happy for having done so; for no renumeration except their thanks, respect and love for me. So, while I fix things, give them tips, share knowledge and finally when my solution clicks, I think it's not an offence to shout out a self bragging quote! I'm a fan of James Bond 007, hence after the thing is done, I just type at email or messenger or say : "Where there's 007, there's a way!"...yes and I mean it. Till date I've successfully solved most of the tech problems of my friends, at college, myself, family and so on...So however old the actual quote may be, the modified one is good enough for my context Even I used this quote as a signature in some hardware forums I visited before venturing into internet biz as of now. Cheers!
Not really. There isn't as much "common sense" on an international forum like this because what people from one country think different to other countries due to the culture and the way they are raised. If someone said footy here it would be "common sense" to think of rugby, whereas if someone said football in Europe its "common sense" to think its football (known as soccer in Australia and a couple of other countries)
That's not common sense, those are local terms. Anyways, I reckon we're drifting offtopic, can we take the argument to PMs. I wouldn't want the thread to lose it's charm.
Abhishek - Hey did you mangage to look at my quote? Its from a movie called the color purple so I dont claim it as my own lol. Its just a quote which evokes emotion. 'I'm poor, black, I may even be ugly, but dear God I'm here, I'm here!'
I've learned to accept life and death, but sometimes I still worry about what lies in between. You have every right to your own opinion, just as long as it agrees with mine. Cheap is expensive. The impossible is already done. For miracles, please take a ticket. My personal favorite: Stupid people eventually die, but stupidity is always pregnant. (OK, so I don't use the term "stupid people," I use a##holes, but the meaning is the same)
Your mind gives you glory, your heart is what makes it possible. Edit: This one is just for fun! "The web isn't better than sex, but sliced bread is in serious trouble."
"Money" - It can buy a house But not a home It can buy a clock But not time It can buy you a position But not respect It can buy you a bed But not sleep It can buy you a book But not knowledge It can buy you medicine But not health It can buy a you a heart transplant But not true love It can buy you blood But not life So you see money isn't everything And it often causes pain and suffering I tell you this because I am your friend And as your friend I want to Take away your pain and suffering!! So Send me all your money And I will suffer for you! Cash only please! After all, what are friends for, uh??
