How to bump threads?

dnforum.com, while certainly not as good of a forum as DP, has some very useful rules that people are allowed to bump sales threads if the price was lowered by at least 10% or every 24 hours.

Do we have something similar on DP, or is it considered "common sense"?

I mean obviously lame bumps like

deserve an infraction, but there should also be some rules when bumping is allowed

So what do mods think about it?

It is just common sense. You can find threads that consists of single opening post ans series of nothing but bumps. I always think poster enjoys talking to himself/herself.

Well, you see Shannon, that's the problem :)

common sense is not always common :p which is what rules are for
for example what I thought should be ok actually received an infraction, and the other way around too ;)

for example a common case if a poster is selling something.
Say the bin is $1000, what would be the minimal decease of bin to bump the thread?

I think that any BIN decrase is a reason for a post because if you dont post it then people are left out of the knowledge circle and they dont konw how much to bid and so on.

odin93, check out another thread in this category where a person was given infraction for lowering the bin from $200 to $199, which is a decrease, but indeed a meaningless one basicly.

I understand only Shawn can put in such rules, so we'll see what he thinks when he's back.

I think that the rule is that you must lower the BIN by at least 20% for it not to be a bump

Might want to get a mod to check though

For a second i though this was thread telling me ways to bump my thread, disappointed MG, now how am i gonaa bump my threads if i do not get suggestions?

Anyways i would post my suggestion ,

    1. Pm your friends(the ones u think are ur freinds) to bump ur thread, hey i get weekly pms either via dp or via msn to bump their threads occasionally, i think thats just not wrong cause its my personal choice to entertain the request or not, and no one has the right where to post and when to post and i do not see any rules about that either on any forums.

    2. Do the above + do not pm me(i got only 8% space left anyways) after looking at this post, but even if you do i never report such users cause i think thats a personal option and one has the right to rest his options and opinions to himself. Thats why PM is called private message here and not Prime Monster.

For those whom, i have bumped their threads for any reason whatsoever know that they never got in trouble for asking for bumping their threads, neither will i disclose the same, so mods please do not ask me for the same either will appreciate it, its personal thing.

Just remember be really careful and smart about who to contact for bumping their threads, if you take my advice and end up getting banned , i should not be held responsible.

    Regards

Probably not a good idea to speak openly about that, especially in 'Suggestions & Feedback', where the mods live :D

Nope i used the magical word " Friends" and friends are worth dieing for. And for me friendship i weigh more than anything in my life. But different people have different perspectives. And trust is one of the most important thing in "Friendship".

    Get the big picture? :D

@PalSys , boy i noticed and realized once again my english sucks :(.

I think it should have been "i am not to be held responsible. " instead of " i should not be held responsible."

Awh shucks! Banned ???. I guess he'll have some time to work on his random bullshit forum now...lol.

And how long is a ban for telling it how it is? I think I'll have to ask him on his forum because I don't think I can pm him here now.

yup it sure sounded like Mods can read pm's, how else would he look for the evidence, and ban someone before having any evidence of it?

deleted all my pm's. never to use the pm system on DP again.

mods can't read pms, only Shawn can if he fetches them from the mysql database, but I doubt he will , so don't worry :)

I would pay a lot of money to see what kind of juicy stuff samantha pia has in her pms :p
