Hi, I upgraded my wordpress to the newest version and when I visited my site, I got 500 internal server error.

My PHP and mySQL are compatible with the newest version of WP.

I have backups (mySQL database & home directory)... should I just upload the backups?

I would get the blog script working first. Delete all the files and upload a fresh script. Others may have different suggestion?

But what about my blog posts? If I delete all the files, can I still restore my posts through my SQL backup?

All your posts are stored within the SQL database, not the files within the word press folder.

What about the themes? Should I download the wp-content folder?

you can do that if you have it modify. But uploading a fresh theme would be alot easyer.

Don't delete the wp-content folder, delete rest except wp-config.php and see if it works.

If I use Fantastico to upgrade, should I still delete the files that you mentioned?

Okay, it's already installed, it says that it's version 2.2.1, but how come I don't have any visual/code editor?

You will have to go to User and then go to Your Profile and put a check mark on "Use the visual editor when writing" and than update profile.
