gordon brown - does anybody care?

we are about to get a new PM and despite scouring this forum for comments have seen nothing about it. have we really become so apathetic to politics in this country that such a change can take place at the top and no-one sees fit to comment. yet i am sure that if someone were about to replace george bush there would be enough interest.
    come on people, wakey, wakey!
apathy is the greatest enemy of democracy.
personally i think gordon will be a vast improvement on 'smiling boy' blair, he has so much more depth, intelligence, and integrity. a heavyweight of politics as opposed to his adversary david cameron, who is so lightweight he could very well blow away during the next conservative storm.

Brown is a dopey moron. I didn't vote for him, In fact, No body voted for him, So i don't see how he can be prime minister. It's got to be illegal for Tony to leave and appoint a new PM. There should be a general election.

Brown is a fat arrogant man, and I still find it amazing that:

    a) He was allowed to waltz into No. 10 unchallenged
    and
    b) Why there is not an election called (as stOx pointed out) because nobody voted for the fat fucker.

    That would be because:

    a) No other candidate could muster the 40 votes required to qualify for the leadership race.
    b) There's no constitutional requirement to call a General Election - the government, as in the Party in power and all the democratically elected Labour MPs, remains the same as before.

I don't like it either, but rules are rules.

Well as old GG pointed out they are both cheeks of the same arse so I wouldn't expect much to change, the sucking up to Bush will continue of course lol and the disaster in the Middle East will also.

The next Gen Election will be interesting though.

Gordon Brown will be boosted by the fact that he got the job without having had to to go through a voting process, ironic that Bush the guy he will suck up to, did not get voted in either, but got the courts and lawyers to swing the verdict his way in Florida
Suffice to say Brown will display arrogance, lies, deceit and any number of tricks that he can, to hold onto to the position he has now

Nope. There's no requirement for him to call another General Election until Spring 2010 and all the smart money would be on him holding out as long as he can. He could be here for a little while longer. The way the Conservatives are performing I wouldn't be surprised if Labour managed to cling on with a tiny majority or in a Hung Parliament.

Well I don't post about UK government and politics because I come on DP for other stuff, like internet marketing and SEO :D
As for Brown, I don't think his coming into office will make much of a difference really. He shares more or less the same policies as Blair, in fact, so does the opposition party.
