I get the feeling most people are bitter that they can't afford or are too cheap to pay for vista, or are to cheap to upgrade their systems.

I find all these people backing XP hilarious. This was after 8 years of bagging the system, now everyone if saying it is great!

There is no comparison to vista on a high-end system and xp on a system. vista boots quicker, shuts down quicker, searches quicker.. Vista is more secure, better eye candy. USB and wireless is flawed in XP, in Vista networks take seconds to set up... and the list goes on...

I simply hate all of the "un-needed" bells and whistles. In my old age, i'm becoming more and more set in my ways and Vista doesn't fit in my little world.

Exactly, it's becoming a trend. Vista is just going what XP was going through at the time. When Vienna (or whatever its name will be) comes out, everyone will be supporting Vista just like they're doing now with XP.

Yes, it has. It came out in RTM status in November, which is the same as the consumer version in January.

Yeah, networking is great on Vista. Wireless connects automatically if you've been on that network before, there are options like Home, Work or Public, etc.

Not sure how much of that was available on XP since I never used wireless networks with XP.

It’s too slow and eats up to many resources and of course full of bugs. I'll stick with XP Professional for now.

I think most people here haven't tried it and are talking only from things they heard. After reading many negative threads, I was a little hesitant to try Vista, but I'm glad I did. Of course it needs a decent computer to run, but if the requirements are met, it looks like a really nice OS. I use it in a dual boot with Ubuntu 64-Bit and am loving both systems. Linux is just much harder to use even the Ubuntu version.

I can only recommend Vista so far if you've all the necessary drivers available.

My Debian box outruns a Vista computer at any time. And it looks better. Yes, it can run Dreamweaver and Photoshop.

It uses up too many resources. If you want it to run decent you'll need a really good comp. It's a new OS so it's going to be buggy. Lots of incompatibilities are frustration. The only reason I'd install Windows Vista is for the 64-bit processing and because Windows is only going to make DirectX 10 compatible for Vista and not for XP. =/

Vista is too slow and takes up more memory for no reason.

just to clear the air...vista isnt slow...Nor it takes too much memory...I have used it...and even now i'm using it....Its pretty OK and better than Windows XP in many ways...(in terms of speed, security)...however...some of the things are a bit complicated...and we just have to get used to with it..

But finding drivers seem to be a problem...........
