Hi. I got around to build a pc, but I cant get it started up. The monitor is just showing "check the signal cable". Any tip is appreciated. The specs: motherboard: asus p5pl2 graphiv card: ffoxconn geforce 7100gs 2 GB ram (2 X 1GB) cpu: intel core 2 duo E6600 Greeeeeeeen to helpers
As far as I can see, yes, I tried with an old graphics card and its the same result. But of course, there must be something I have done wrong.
Try using another monitor..Are you sure your power supply is strong enough, sometimes that can be a problem..
Hmm.. I think something is wrong with your hardware.. maybe the AGP or PCI Express slot is not working.
I have tries another monitor. The power supply is about 400W , shoud be ok. And the power supply works well on my old pc. I tried both a pci express grapic card (the new one) and an old card in another pci slot. I cannot hear any error beeps either.
Just reset the power on the psu..Sometimes it just need a nice reset, and then maybe it will work..Just a process of doing everything you can, since you tried different cards..
How do you do that ? Do you mean just turn it on and off ? Thats done many times. Thats how I turn the pc off, power button does not shut it down even if hold a few seconds.
Well.. thats a brand new mother board. Could happen of course, but the chances of that are minimal. The chance that I did not do everything right is about 1000 X greater
Take everything out and do it again. I was assembling a pc one time and the monitor wouldn't turn on unless I connected the Cd-Rom. Strange...
Does the motherboard by chance have onboard video??? Sometimes, the motherboard will have video built in onboard and, if you stick a video card in on top of that, they will conflict and not show anything. If you mobo does have onboard, you may want to take video cards out, see if you are getting a picture, and if you are you will want to go into the bios and turn it off or switch it so its going through the installed cards....
The mobo does not have onboard video. One thing is strange though. I connect my dvd rom on the ide cable, (the HD is SATA). When I connect the ide cable to the mobo the dvdrom cannot be opened. But this is maybe aside the problem because I try to start up with only the HD connected and get the same "check the signal cable" message.
Okay you dont have onboard video... Lets check everything again, you have tried different Graphics cards in different ports and different monitors as well. OKay Check if you have connected all the cables from SMPS to motherboard and graphics card? EDIT: Clear CMOS will erase any custom bios setting and set it to the Factory Default..
Refresh and see my new Post Can you explain all the steps you have done so far in the quest of building your new PC??
I earned money, went to the store I mounted the power supply, mobo, ram, cpu, cpu fan, grapic card, HD, connected some of the cables from the front of the cabinet. - tried 2 monitors. - tried 2 grapic cards in different slots. - tried with and without cd rom. - the power supply is 350 watt.
