So does anyone know which type of site is best to display Adsense ads- a free hosting site or paid for site? I came across another thread/topic where someone asked the same question but no one knew. Does anyone know how free hosting websites compare with those that are paid for? Or does it not matter at all? Thanks.

Go for a real domain on a paid hosting service. That way you don't have trouble with the links you built to your free domain once your traffic exceeds the free host's limit. Be professional about it - go with a real domainname on an actual paid host. They aren't that expensive.
The search engines also rank sites on 'paid for' hosts as more important, seeing as how you were willing to spend cash to put your site up.

hosting types has no effect on adsense and the best adsense web site type depents on you. the key point for the adsense is hits. you must have mant many hits for the adsense earning
how do you really increase the traffic? how about the softwares saying that they can boost your traffic, is it for real?
the thing is that traffic is easier to get when your site is taken seriously. a site will be taken more seriously if it's on a paid domain (all else being equal). As for paid traffic: google adwords works.
