Hello Guys, I have a site in google Supplemental index, any idea why it is there.... tried many things but no improvements here is URL Certification Tutorials Thanks, 009½
the main supplemental criteria is page rank. you need to find backlinks directly to your supplemental results
I agree, you need some quality links. Try submitting your site to some quality paid directories. I had a quick look at your site and the pages that are in the supplement don't have much content. That could be part of the reason as well.
I don't this that you need to buy links to get out from supplemental results. A better idea (and you save your money, too) is to write. About anything. The idea is to have unique content.
Another tip is to check that your content hasn't been copied. Use http://www.copyscape.com/ to check.
Page Rank is the most important factor (the PR of the page, not the site). But, it also may be an issue with duplicate content or non-unique titles and meta description. Plus, once a page is in supplementals, it can take a long time for it to climb out. So you can find the problem and correct it, but it may not come out of the supps for a while. You best bet is to figure out if there are any major revenue generating pages in the sups (or leads, or whatever your goal is) focus on those and build links directly to them. Good luck! Morty
That's not actually true. It is the case that often times with huge auto-generated sites (which will have dup content) will wind up in the supps, but it's not because of the duplication. Best bet in your case john009½ is probably multiple smaller html sitemaps, broken into logical categories, and a nice deep linking campaign. You don't have to call them sitemaps, and they can contain more than links, but the point is to get some more direct PageRank in to those deeper pages. You have what looks like 179 links on your homepage... while you do need more PR to that, once you go over a certain number of links on a page it gets much harder to pass PageRank to the inner pages from it. -Michael
I have actually found it to be true in 2 cases, and replicated the issue in test sites. But hey, if you have found it not to be true in your experience, then go with that. I have always found that experience is the most important factor when it comes to SEO, not what is read on these boards. Morty
Yes, get some quality backlinks to your internal pages and also make sure that your site has not been penalized.
if you have good quality content than also your site may go in supple. res. the best and only way to get out is to provide back links not only to main page but to supple pages too. even my site is in supple res. but it will come out only with powerful linking
I find that you can have good unique and orginal content and you will still be in the supplemental results as said above. It needs links to these supplemental pages. It doesn't matter if you wrote an article that is completely yours and then only put it on your site, it will still go supplemental most probably.
Here is an example, of why your site gets some pages in supplemental results (the link treats the discussion about what is one of the main reasons that causes a page to end in supplemental results, even tho, the example given are for WordPress blogs). Your page (on the examples results) is a duplicate content, and i believe also the other pages are even tho i did not checked. Duplicate content is one of the major reasons a page will end up in supplemental results, backlinks to the page can help a page to get out of the supplemental results. Hope was helpful (just my opinion about your situation, i might be wrong as well)
Yes duplicate content will get a page into supplemental, but what about the page that is not duplicate. I have hundreds of pages that are not duplicate and they are in the supplemental results. I believe that you need at least 1 back link to each internal page if you don't want them in supplemental results. But even 1 back link will not get them out if they have duplicate content.
I have read an article about Supplemental Listings and I hope this one might help... Supplemental Listings
mvandermar is correct - it is not a duplicate content issue, although that is a persistent myth on webmaster forums like this one. From the horse's mouth: Matt Cutts: Supplemental vs. Duplicate Content Google Hell? By Matt Cutts Tue, May 1 2007
Yeah, thing is, the main problem with Matt down playing supps is that he skirts over the real issue... you lose your effective long tail traffic as more pages go into supps, and supp pages don't pass PageRank. Yes, for many sites where the homepage is where all the traffic goes to first it would never make a difference... but for most others it does. -Michael
It says that you don't have to worry about being in the sup's. I know for a fact that is untrue. The more pages you have out of it the better as you will be in the main index and will rank for more, meaning more traffic for your site. Although being in the sup's is not a penaulty and still gives your site some traffic. The traffic is minimal to what it would be if each page was in the main index.
