I think directory owners have around 2 weeks left to prepare for the PR update

As some of you page rank enthusiasts may be aware of, the page rank update usually happens around 3 or 4 weeks before google updates its data centres and the toolbar.

As many directories rely on page rank for sales, and PR updates happen every months, and many believe the last PR snapshot was early April. If the same happens again, I reckon early July will see googlebot get spidering faster (like last time) and the PR snapshot happen.

If my predictions are correct, it means us dir. owners have two more weeks to work hard at increasing or retaining our page ranks.

Since zorg links is PR0, and predicted (unreliably) a PR4, i have two weeks left to get some decent backlinks.

What do yo guys think? Time to go buy some PR7 links?

It'll be too late to get some PR7s now :D You should have got them a month or two ago ;)

I think if its going to update in next 2 week then buying PR7 link right now will not help you in this update. Age of link is matters a lot to get higher PR.

PageRank update is roughly one month from now. From what I have seen in the past, final backlinks cache usually takes place two-three weeks before PR toolbar rollout.

If there is only one month

Then I have lost a chance to increase PR for my directory www.jeffbrowninc.com

I planned to submit my directory to other directories as I never submitted my site to directories

i think its a matter of days.

i dont think new links will help much. they need to be in googles cache for a while. i have 1 PR7 and 4 PR6 backlinks at the mo, need some more tho!

I think its too late for this one but its a good time for the one after that and the one after that, ect.

Link age plays a part in it also.

If you have a PR8 backlink for a few months it will probably give your site a PR6 or PR5 (depending on outbound links on that page of course).

Now if that link has been there a year or more it will most likely make your site a PR7.

This is all considering that it is your only backlink. :)

you only need around 18 pr6 backlinks to get a pr 6 yourself and that is based on the linking page having around 50 outbound links.

people are saying that the link age means a lot

does anyone have proof of this?

is there any proof to say that a pr 6 link which has been in place for a year has any more effect than a pr6 link in place for a month?

Well for example I picked up a domain that was going to expire that had 1 PR8 backlink. This link has been on that page for years. This is about the only link that the site had left and it was a PR7 site.

    So 1 strong PR8 backlink made a PR7 site.

Now if I went out and bought a PR8 backlink it would not create a PR7 for a long while.

Just remember Google is smart. They know paid links usually come and go off sites. So one way to tell if a link is naturally made or not is by seeing how long the link stays on the site.

I agree, there is around 2 weeks left to get your links and have them indexed. I have a couple of blog that dropped to PR3 last update and I am hoping those move back up to PR4. I have two new sites in the cooker right now but I am not sure either will have any backlinks indexed in time.

Today bought one pr 7 for one of my sites hope it's not late. It's a forum site so it should be cached quickly. Let's see what happens after pr update.

If that PR8 website had 1 or 2 outbound links than it explains everything. I dont think any kind of age filter is being applied from what I've read about PageRank.

this backlink is probably not a pr8 but a pr8.9! (outbound links will play a big role too)
