Grim : I used to life heavy weights and found it impossible to not put on weight, as i would often eat after and as everybody knows muscle weighs more then fat.

I tried lifting smaller weights, but wanted to work on strength rather then "muscle fitness".

Is there a way to lift without putting on weight?

Smaller weights and high reps will give you strength and not mass ;) Heavy weights and low reps gives you mass.

Martial Arts, By doing martial arts you will learn self defence and techniques, your body will become stronger by doing so.

I'll go for the Martial Arts.. for me, this is better coz in case that you get into trouble, you'll be able to defend your self if know martial arts than body building...

Yeah because being able to pick someone up with one hand and throw them into a wall does not help you 'defend yourself'

BTW being built has it's advantages, barely anyone will even look at me cross eyed. :D
