Site ranked #1 in MSN but traffic low...

I have a world of warcraft website which you can find in my sig. and to my suprise its ranked #1 in msn search for a whole range of related search terms. One of them (which is fiercely competed for in Google) is 'wow leveling guide'. If you search that in msn my site will come first out of over 137,000+ sites. I know msn isn't anywhere near as popular as google, but my traffic is extremely low, with around 10-20 hits a day from msn. Anyone care to explain this?

You have pretty much answered your own question, msn is no where near as popular as google, try working on your google serp's and you will see an big increase in traffic. heres a shot of my awstats, i rank well in most search engines.

    - Google 2079 2094
    - Google (Images) 828 1238
    - Unknown search engines 84 84
    - AOL 84 88
    - MSN 71 78
    - Yahoo 8 9
    - Tiscali 4 4
    - Ask Jeeves 1 1

google provides almost 30x the amount of traffic than msn :)

I think the answer is in your question itself.
Any way Google and MSN calculates in different ways.

because no one searches for that specific keywords, try to rank high for other keywords, msn can be a source of traffic..

the keywords I get ranked #1 for in msn are intensely sought after in google. So its not a matter of the keywords being not popular enough (and of course there are more popular keywords, im not disputing that) but rather msn attracts less users for that particular niche than google.

I still say congratulations are in effect. Nice job!
MSN is such a bitch that most people just say "screw it".
    Way to stick it out.

Yahoo sends way more traffic than MSN/Live.

    #1 google, #2 yahoo...................................#3 msn........................4# all the others

I have an affiliate site that ranks #1 only in MSN for some fairly generic travel terms. Similar to 'cheap (city) hotels' or ' book (city) hotel'.
Almost no traffic. I'm lucky to make $10 month from it. .....in google/yahoo I would be making some serious $$$$$$$$$

Except they would'nt rank my crappy site # 1 lol!

It happens with MSN, so do not lose heart. Try to optimise the site wrt GOOGLE and YAHOO.

MSN is very poor in generating traffic. Don't even bother about ranking well in MSN. Try to rank well in Google and Yahoo as that will be much better.

perhaps it's your sites title on msn. Maybe people go to then next site or the sponsored ones. I would look into it. If you were searching for wow leveling guides, would you click a site with your title, or the other ones on the page?

What about Googe and Yahoo? Do you know that Googe serves about 80% of users search. So try to lift yourself in Googel first.
