Well blogged about it at the Quick Buck Crew site if you wish you can go there and make your comments.
Looks like address on who is info is not owners address, but address of namecheap. I have the wrong guy. Anyway, his site is hosted on http://www.softlayer.com/ so still there is a way to get his contact info.
I don't think we all need to argue, they look similar, end of story, would like to find out more but everyone is entitled to their opinions, guys!
That's disgusting that someone would do this, and I'm really disappointed. Thanks to everyone for their support. Thanks Sasa for catching this. Thanks Marko for digging up the details - I've sent an email to the owner.
Nicely said Colleen .. Plain & Simple; the dude ripped it, copyed it, made it look close by just moving shit around, yada , yada , yada we all agree Lets all just go back to the other threads and talk some good shit about making money not about some looser that ripped a design ..
Different font... Different Colors... Different graphics.... Different layout.... I've seen a ton of directories that look a lot more like DMOZ than this looking like aviva. I don't know why I'm so caught up in this thread, but I just can't believe anyone thinks this is a big deal. This directory will probably be dead in a year, anyway. I'm sure he got the idea to put a woman on the front from Aviva, but these two directories are not even in the same category. This will never compete with Aviva.
Good post Really? He is ripping of the concept. It's an obvious copy. He may not have copied it 100%, but it's still a copy. And a bad one at that.
indeed u can call it a rip off ... u and i both know it ... who can prove this legally ?? no one can copyright on font-size: 8pt; and color: #6f6f6f; he used different image ... and moved it to the left .... we all know he was over inspired and pretty much just ripped the idea and the design basis but it is very hard to prove it legally.
What took you so long? Anyway --nice that you have now blogged about it --I'll read it after some time Cheers.
I think someone must have an overachieving eye because I don't see it. They are similar at best, but I wouldn't call it a rip-off copy.
Well, and arguments like this one are the reason Americans spend Billions a year in legal fees. You can always say, well, this button is a little different or "here is an additional line of code that is not on Aviva", but common sense will tell you that it IS a rip-off.
I found this theme by templatemonster look quite similar to aviva :http://osc2.template-help.com/wordpress_15259/ (we have a chick missing on the right though) but i will not call it a rip off because there is a difference between inspiration and rip-off.
In some cases similarities are ok. But what bugs me the most is when people just copy something and add absolutely nothing unique or of value on their own. They rely 100% of someone elses ideas to carry them to success. And unfortunately within the last year a LOT of members have joined here whose number 1 reason to come here is to get "inspired".
I can sign any paper on my life it is first time I see it. By the way, I looked around and looks like there are more templates with similar colors: http://www.templatemonster.com/wordpress-themes/15178.html http://www.templatemonster.com/website-templates/14919.html http://www.templatemonster.com/flash-templates/14530.html Gray and green just looks good and I guess it is popular colors combination.
