What are some of the best ways to promote a website without paying huge amounts on PPC. I am trying to get traffic up on some of my sites and am having a hard time finding good sites that send good traffic. I have 2 proxy sites that receive 500 to 1000 uniques per day, but I would like to get this number up. I also would like to develop a new content rich site and am wondering how some of you have built your uniques up to such a large point. Thanks, Kevin
There are a few things that will get people to your site. From the search engines: - Good quality content - Fresh content - Good site structure - link building - optimized pages targeting one to two keywords per page If your content is unique and fresh people who are interested will visit regularly to see what's new. This will help with visitors typing in the URL. You can also work on a brand regognition campaign through banners to help. Also if your content is unique and of good quality many sites will link to the pages that contain the articles. This will do a couple of things to your site. It might bring traffic to those interior pages from those sites that have linked to you and you will gain page rank in those interior pages and that will help pass pr through out the site. If your site is considered an authority site people will automatically be drawn to it once they visit it. With a good marketing plan give yourself 6 months to a year for the traffic to build.
You also can advertise your site by buying cheap text link ad space on a high traffic, high pr site. Ask around and you should be able to get your link up for an affordable monthly price. I agree with Chabbs that it takes about six months to a year of hard work and marketing to get it going. That is about how long it took me and I didn't invest a ton of money.
Thanks everyone I appreciate the advice. I write articles for some websites now as a professional writer so writing some good articles should not be an issue. I will have to find some sites then that I can write for about the types of websites I own. Even though I write for a marketing consulting group it is always good to find fresh ideas. I have found that when you ask you will find creative and great ways to promote your business. My goal is to have my sites working for me instead of the other way around. I want to make my writing a hobby and not a job. Thanks, Kevin
The quickest, but probably also most difficult way to get lots of traffic (one-time only) is by doing a JV with a high traffic site. Other classic ways are: * publishing articles * creating a content rich site (with many keyword focused content pages) and doing a basic SEO * building (quality) inbound links * e-zine advertising Building a high-traffic site with only a small budget takes time & effort, there are no magical tricks - but the effort pays off for many years to come. hope this helps
You can start a Yahoo MSN group or a mailing list on your site to get visitors comming back. I also have two similar sites and I am running a yahoo group.
If you are providing a service that revolves around you or your expertise, then writing & submitting articles is an excellent promotional tool to build reputation, trust, links and traffic.
advertisign a new site is extremely difficult but link exchanges should be a good start and some places does allow advertising , links could be shared on them .. like yahoo / msn groups , blogs , 360 , and similar networks
I make sure to submit new sites to as many directories as possible as well -- most of these don't even require a link back so you get a lot of one way links, which is good. Here's a couple of sites that I've used to start from with TONS of directories listed: http://www.best-web-directories.com/free-directories.htm http://www.thebestwebdirectories.com/ http://info.vilesilencer.com/main.php?rock=freelista.php http://www.trendmx.com/seo-internet-directory/web-internet-directory-submission-list.html
don't exchange link a lot that will hamper your site. But you can write article and submitted in high PR article or forum site and do few social bookmarking (if you can then please careful about those site,if those site is relavent then it will be great), this way you can increase traffic, my dear friend.
Like I've been saying for a while now good ole' BUM Marketing will get you the traffic you need. Good Luck!
Have you try to use email marketing ? Email marketing able to bring the traffic back and the traffic mostly is unique. Beside that you may try on Google Adwords CPC which it bring higher Unique Visitors compare to affiliate CPC.
With proxy sites you can always advertise on proxy.org as it seems to be the number one traffic source for proxies
