I've been frauded with domain name PR - watch out

Well this is a hard lesson to learn, but I bought a fake pr6 domain name from Ebay. I know it is completely my fault...just didn't do the research.

all his domains are fake, using 302 headers
    http: // search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZsuzlimaaQQhtZ-1

this guy is making tons of money off this scam

I filed a dispute with paypal, but since it is not a physical item, I doubt I will get my money back. I also tried to report the transaction to ebay, but you have to wait at least 10 days after the transaction to file a fraud case.

    rankalert.com explains fakes the best

An easy way to this is that any low PageRank page that is redirected, via a 302 server header or a "Refresh" meta tag, to a high PR page causes the lower PR page to acquire the PR of the destination page.
In theory a new, PR0 page with no incoming links can be redirected to the Google home page - which is a PR 10 - and by the next PageRank update the PR of the new page will be upgraded to a PR10.

Guess I should start building the page rank.

unomateo forged PR is a very very very popular domain fraud
As you said before it's your fault
Did you think you could get a PR5 or PR6 with $2 when they cost way over $800 ?

Ebay is populated by scams, few serious domainers sell their names there

well there are plenty of fake-PR names here at DP also.. but if u try to point that thing to the seller and post in this thread mentioning the same then you simply get infractions from mods for thread hijacking

therefore, beware at DP also for such kind of scams

champ rock forged PR domains are everywhere

ebay is a living hell for domains. Too many scams and few to none real offers
    DP is not the same
Here are educated buyers and sellers
ebay is "stay far away" site for domain sales-purchases

They are not selling for $2 on ebay, I was outbid many times until I finally just bid high and got mine for $70.

the PR checkers I was using all said the domain had a PR6.

www was pr6, all looked good. without the www, pr0.

Do you guys know of any charts or lists that have the average prices for PR?

I didn't know PR6 was worth so much?

i see quite a few fake PR purchases on DP also dude..

all those who are not aware how to check the PR fall for this scam. also, many people think that fakePR means that all the datacenters will not show the same PR. due to which if ever ydatacenter is showing a good strong PR they fall for the scam

The difference with ebay champrock is that in DP everyone can comment the sale and report a forged PR

Internet is not a heaven unfortunately if people don't know they should at least ask. The bad thing is that they usually learn after the got scammed

Start creating your own site with high PR and you will understand how long it will take you to go up to PR6, that will give you an idea why it's not sold for $70

here is my story at DP:
i saw a thread at DP selling fake PR domain
i post a comment saying "is the PR real? can u please confirm it"

next thing, i notice that the thread started has reported my post as thread hijacking and the good mods gave me an infraction for it. they feel that it was a genuine sales crashing as i was trying to destroy his sale

they said that if i knew it was a fake-PR then i should keep my opinions to myself and not post about ruining other peoples threads..

so DP is pretty much the same

Bad experience champrock, DP doesn't work that way usually but it's up to the mod and his mood to give you an infraction
I got 7 infractions from one topic because the mod thought i was bumping the topic where there is no specific rule for bumping (as in namepros for example that they have the 24H bump rule)

This doesn't mean mods are protecting forged PR sales, if i'm sure the PR is forged i always post my opinion

PR alone is nothing i could agree
But PR domains can help you indexed much faster than the sandbox of Google and have you ever tried to build a solid PR6 site for example ?

i have bought several fake pr names on ebay but luckily none over 20$.however i won two others for $$$ and refused to pay when the seller refused to answer why there was a redirect to another site.I don't expect any problem with negative feedback because the payback will be the same and a report to safe harbor, which will tend to make selling more scam domains a little harder. My question is... what is the valid reason (if any) why a domain would have a redirect to a page rank equaling the higher claimed pr?(there never seems to be one for a lower pr domain!!).seems like there would be no way to guarantee the redirect would continue if it was not a scam and once it is taken off your left with squat.By the way did any one notice several people posting no bid auctions with list s of fake domain sellers?.wonder if ebay gives them free listings(lol)

another tool I found to check the header for a 302.
    www . seoconsultants.com/tools/headers.asp
(sorry, I can't add links yet)

I did a search on ebay for pr4, pr5, and pr6 domain names on ebay, and 100% of them are fake...I was thinking 90% are fake. There has to be one that is real! but everyone is fake.

I love ebay, an entire category is fraud and they will do nothing about it.

wow, the ebay seller refunded my money!

I transferred the domain back to the seller, and they refunded my.

I wonder how long it will be until it is back up on Ebay, as a PR6.
