hi, i have posted my website link on many forums as well as social networking sites. i even posted a link to it on a blog. however, when i do a search for back links, i don't get any response. my site is www.whois-barack-obama.com and i posted the link to my site last week. 2 questions: 1) If i search for backlinks on google, will anything show up just by forum posting? 2) Does it help to have links up in forums? do those count as backlinks?
Forums are best for direct traffic. i consistently get 10-20% of my traffic from this and other forums/blogs.
Just Continue SEO your site... Google not really show you actual Inbound links, the only way you can do is wait. Forums link are really helpful mostly on indexing your pages... for me forums sigs are really useful.
Google doesn't show complete backlink count. The closest you'll get is MSN. As far as forum sig links go, I would say they are invaluable. You can alter them as much as you like, and unlike most other link sources, you can freely link to inner pages of your site. Plus, they piggyback off the success of the forum they are on - therefore they get indexed quickly!
wow, good responses. okay, here are my answers and some more questions. - I post new posts on forums too. Its not all replies. - I will add a new signature linking to my site after i type this. - I have posted a number of articles on different sites, but still no backlinks. - Even now, when i search for my site, i get results for the older version. i recently uploaded a new version and got it verified by google too. still, there are links to pages that don't exist any more. not sure why those still show up. whenever i do article submissions, i get a lot of hits. but still, there is no page rank information on google for me. i'm not even a 0 at this point.
google does not show all of your backlinks because of this i'm not sure that google will show it to you but i'm sure it will help your seo. everylink will help your seo
Signature links, or forum posts don't help much with PR or Rankings but they serve ok as a direct source of visitors. Try and concentrate on obtaining stronger backlinks, you will be old and gray by the time forum posts get you good PR or rankings.
forum posting can increase visitors to your site. google not show all back links so dont worry try to get back link for your website.
Not to copy everything said, I just want to elaborate - forums are good source of traffic only if your sites are relevant to forum topic. I mean you shouldn't post a link to your site about cars in a cooking forum
