I hope its temporary too. I'm a long standing fan of TLA and think they are a good company with a great site.

    They didn't nuke http://www.textlinkbrokers.com

You could understand a drop in rankings for a major keyword but text link ads is their actual name that they no longer rank for!

G is still taking their $$$ for Sponsored Results though I see? He he... great thinking - whack them out of the organic SERPs to ensure they RELY on the sponsored PAID results.....

Maybe it's a new business model? bwaaa ha ha ha ha

Google has asked to report Paid Links, in the Report Paid Links page, google is asking for both who is buy links and who is selling links. Apparently somepeople must have reported text-link-ads as a site selling paid links, even though it just brokers a deal, and goole algorithm must be penalising the site for that.

I just hope it don't hit the paid directory links.

The algorithm wouldn't touch them, TLA don't buy links to their site. It would need to be a manual penalty or some strange issue that will resolve its self by tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure Google knew about TLA without somebody reporting them.

99% of directory links have already been hit.

Does this mean I should cancel the ad I buy from them?

I believe noone can give you an answer for that since this is a new thread (even tho the post on the blog is since 27th May). I know that one of TLA Inc. staff is here around on DP maybe you could give him a whistle for more informations.

Anyway, i don't think this would be something temporary, other sites have been penalized for encouraging text link sales and TLA could be the next case. What makes me wonder, is Google going to ban the search phrase "Text link ads" heh..(sarcasm).

The post was today not 27th May. I just clicked the wrong date somewhere whil writing it.:eek:

I will still be using TLA, the key is to buy relevant links rather than links for PR.

Looks very similar to the drop John Chow had on his site for [john chow] and [make money online].

Except make money online is a keyword he was trying to rank for. Text Link Ads is their name.

Maybe it will come back in a few days.

If this becomes a recurring theme, then the paid directories will drop next (some already have). Business as usual: adapt or die.
