Possible to filter out a particular category from all views

I was wondering if it is possible in any way to filter out a particular category all together from view when checking New Posts for example?

So if I have no interest in one or two categories at all which clutter up the screen when checking New Posts, this filter will allow me not to see any posts from those categories.

You can subscribe to the forums you're interested in. But there's no way to unsubscribe from them....as far as I know.

-Go to the forum and hit the "forum tools" drop down menu
-Then from the Quick Links menu select "New Posts (subscribed forums)"

    Yes, I noticed that.

I am sure there should be a way to filter the "view" so that particular forums are basically not visible to you.

(please note, you need to replace instances of # with forum numbers)

Of you only want to exclude a few of the forums then you could bookmark this link:

    forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=#,#,#,#

    or

    forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?do=getnew&include=#,#,#,#

Which would be best utilized if you only wanted to view the new posts in only a handful of forums.

As an example, if you wanted to check the SE forums, but not their sub forums you could do: forums.digitalpoint.com/search.php?do=getnew&include=5,6,26,43

    No problem :D

Also keep an eye out for this image: [IMG]

When you see it you can collapse a section of the forums so you don't have to bother seeing it again. On the main index you can lob off loads of space by clicking that on the groups you don't like looking at. I subscribe to Forum Management, but the rest of Design & Development is out of my care zone, so I have it collapsed.

These preferences SHOULD save on the sites cookies so the next time you visit you won't need to look at it again either.

I'm not sure this will actually help in your quest to filter Digital Point, but I find it handy :D
