That is the whole point of the meetings, to learn from others that are! Besides, discussions don't usually center around technical topics.. We usually discuss how to generate traffic, how to monetize your site, search engine optimization, etc.. and BTW, i'm not very techy either..please don't tell anyone..
Our discussions have been focused on things like content, traffic and monetization. Tech is relatively a small part of the discussions. Should we count you as an RSVP yes?
I just noticed the ads are pointing to the other thread. Anyhow... more ideas on topics... Webmaster forums... rate 'em, positives and negatives. Less popular online communities we take part in... which ones are they and why do we go there?
I fixed the link yesterday morning?? I'll check them again, there are two in rotation. As far as forum goes that would be a good topic. I find I come to this one on a regurar basis and others like Adobe's when I have to.
So how was it? what did you guys talk about? its right around 5 hours from when you started and I think thats plenty right?
I just got home a few minutes ago.. It was great! Everybody that attended got free Shoemoney baseball caps and a free Shoemoney T-Shirt.. we discussed everything from Arbitrage to effective SEO..
We ran through a gamut of discussion topics ranging from social networking techniques, the SEO business, our own individual aspirations, etc. all the way to the most important subject: how to make money. Each time we meet some new folks show up to give us a fresh perspective on things. It's great to have discussions on these topics in person - get some real time feedback and find a few like minded friends that we can utilize for help down the road. We had a good long talk about formalizing things a little bit (throwing a little bit of structure into the meetings to maximize productivity and value) and on ways to increase attendance at these meetings and it looks to me like there is going to be a strong future with this particular user group. Also - keep an eye on Tearabite. He'll be making a name for himself.
Doh! It did take place? I popped in, didn't seem like it was happening and took off. Hopefully next time.
Sorry we missed you. Tearabite was making a fashion statement with his Shoemoney shirt which helped a few people find us. We told the hostess to send any web guys or gals our way. We were sitting in the dining area adjacent to (and within the 100 decibels of TV volume) main bar/TV area. We kept a look out for webmaster types (people carrying backpacks, wearing t-shirt from slashdot.com or a conference, etc ) wondering around, sorry we missed you. The meeting was kinda small but quality was great thanks to some surprise guests. I recognized one of the guys that showed up as a former guest on Shoemoney's show and he informed me that Shoe had been a guest on his show! Look for Rush Hour on WebmasterRadio.fm and he was the guy not named Neil. We'll keep you posted on what's going on.
Thanks guys, enjoyed the meetup. Though intimate it was good to chat with creative people and learn about your experiences. Don't forget to check out our next refresh meeting!
theapprentice, Thanks for making it up to Irvine for the meeting. I am penciling in myself in for the next Refresh San Diego meeting. What's the traffic like in the evening coming from the north? P.S. Based on your input at the meeting, you are closer to being the thedonald than theapprentice.
any of you guys know where I can get some custom stickers printed up? something like these, http://flickr.com/photos/zeo/315758120/
I'd recommend coming down at like 3 then you should be before any major traffic and just spend some time around San Diego. Lots of good places to relax at. Maybe I should go for a new handle then
... oh and while we're on the topic of names, wemug as a group name sounds a bit like we're bandits or something :-D
