okay, so I have a website that i was checking google rank for.. and the rank showed different for different sites.. even different at different times.

the site is http://falconerdesigns.com and the rank is 5 and/or 6 depending on time and site.

just out of curiosity, Why does that happen?

Perhaps because the stats are coming from a different data center?

From what Ive heard from other people and read, sometimes the data comes from a different google cache of the PR.

Also, adding or removing the www can cause a PR difference by 2 or more in rare cases. (It happens on one website ive seen, if you add the www the PR is 2 higher)

hmm. its actually the other way round.. most of the times without the www the PR is 6, and with it it goes down to 5.

    interesting aspect.
anywyas, thanks all for the details.

Ok, I was just trying to give an example of how the www will effect the PR in most cases.

You need to set it up to avoid the www issue. Figure out which way you prefer it (with or without "www") then setup a 301 redirect so it always lands on the good one.

It's probably also wise to add that site to Google Webmaster Tools and specify the www preference in there as well.
