    Hi dear friends,

Just wanted to ask what do you think or if you have any information about which Forum is the most SE friendly (avoid supplemental pages or dups pages which can make your site penalized by google) and if yes what are also your recommendations in relation to the setup of it :)

I thank you very much for your reply

I think Vbulletin is apparently the best. + I always tend to find their pages in searcgh results! There is a SEO addon. The only problem is that Vbulletin isnt free, unlike SMF or phpbb.

That will depend on how many backlinks you can garner to your forum site

The SEO feature has noting to do with the google supplemental

And yes, VB has the best SEO friendly setup

What about BBPress, wordpress's forum script? It's designed specifically to be SE-friendly.

It's a lot simpler and leaner than the traditional BB, which I love, but a lot of BB regulars hate...

    1. Duplicate content does NOT get you penalized and is NOT the reason for supplemental indexing. The only thing that happens with duplicate content is that one of the pages will be indexed and the others will not. You can easily choose which ones you don't want indexed by specifying those to be ignored using a well-constructed robots.txt file.

    2. vBulletin is without question the most SE friendly forum software out of the box.

Hmmm, I signed up to smf forum a while back, I really wish I had gone with VBulletin.

I didn't really have the spare funds available at the time (yes, I know they are kinda small), but now I do. I'm thinking of changing, but to talk about that I'm going to need to open a new topic. lol

A sensible question I guess would be, "If vBulletin is so SEO friendly", why is there a need for vbSEO? I am probably missing something here.

    There isn't.

You do need to do some basic mods to the standard VB though to make it SEO friendly.

In fact I will write a blog post about it later today.
