Hey everyone okay basically, i cant give my site ideas away, so sorry if this question is hard to answer but: i am developing an online web business, its going to be a big network of different niches, all similar style in the sense of the format and function of the website, but for different niches. Do i keep it all on one central domain, and put each niche as a seperate sub domain, with the landing home page, with links to each niche, or do i build them up as seperate websites, part of the same network, but different sites? the issue is, i will start off with just one or two niches, and then expand in the comin months when i know its succesful. if i could have everyones opinions it would be great... if you could do the poll and comment in the thread cheers
I would choose one sites and separate folders under that site. Subdomains are treated as different and completely new sites, whereas folders automatically inherit the trust factor from the domain. This is just from the SEO point of view.
If you are going to interlink heavily your niches, don't go for different sites, the sites could be penalized on Search Engines for excesive interlinking. IMO, as kgrad said, the best way is only one domain site with different folders for each niche.
very valid point about SEO... and tbh i think it would work better... but not sure about the problems with only starting up with one niche, then expanding, because the site needs to somehow accomodate that?!:S
hmm okay, alot of mixed opinions!! Each niche would have say 500-1000 frequent users - if that helps?
well, im pretty sure i wont want to sell of the sites, as they will be worth much more as a whole network, and if its too much to handle, then i would employ people to help. unless you meant sell actual products, in that case no, no products are being sold on the site(s)
