I am getting a ton of impressions on one page. According to Overture, the search term gets around 200 a day, however, yesterday, I got about 1500 impressions. I just don't think it should get that many even though I am top in the rankings. Its coming from Yahoo with different IPs and different locations. Should I inform Google adsense even though the CTR for this page is pretty low?
I get traffic for different search terms and recently got to the top of Yahoo for this particular one. The impressions are not from a single IP , its from different IP's and locations.
If it is organic traffic, you have nothing to worry about. Adsense has an inbuilt ability to detect where the impressions are coming from. On some of my sites that are have content on current events traffic often jumps 10 times. I think it is quite normal. As long as you aren't buying traffic or creating artificially impressions, Google won't bother.
Just report here: https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/request.py?contact=invalid_clicks_contact Then tell them its not clicks but impressions. Tell your side of the story.
Well, thats not really important. What I want to know is whether I should informa Google about a sudden dramatic rise in impressions. IHowever, the traffic is coming from different IP's.
I don't think if you need to inform google for this, because it seems to be a fair game to me, so u need not to worry about the traffic source and low CTR.
Well, actually, I am getting clicks as well. However, the CTR is as normal rate or even below average. But since I am getting the traffic from Yahoo on different IP's and locations, I feel it should be a fair game, what do you think?
Event based searches go up and down rapidly. If Sanjay Dutt goes to jail tomorrow, number of people searching for "Sanjay Dutt" will shoot up sharply. If any site/blog having content related to Dutt, appears in first page of the search results, it will see a big jump in traffic for a few days.
Well, its a health related keyword. I have kept screenshots of the logs just incase I need to discuss this with Google anytime in the future. I think I will leave it at that.
I am not saying you have a event based keyword. I am just saying traffic spikes in organic traffic are normal.
The things is, report any unussual traffic/impression/click activity. The way i see it, tell adsense guys and let them decide if its good. Some traffic source like stumbleupon and myspace is not good. from Yahoo, i think its safer. But reporting takes just 2 minutes and you can sleep nicely.
Well, you have to remember, people will not keep an eye on their stats all the time. It should be Google to decide whether the traffic is right or wrong. People should be able to get on creating content and not having to keep an eye on their traffic sources all the time, so they can sleep easy.
I don't think there is anything to worry about because the traffic is coming from different IPs. Did you check Awstats for referres? May be someone gave you a free link on their blog?
