Ok I made a website with good content (or that is what I think ) now how do you make your website popular? How do these big guys attract so many people? Or nuff said how do these people find them? Regards

if you want a huge traffic and popularity in very few days then you can hire the visitors and reviewers to your web. i think if you get the money then everything is possible in this world. but the paying guests are not so good.
And to feed the search engines, you need daily new content on the site. Be careful does giants are eating like crazy.
hi, to promote your website you must submit it to a lot of directories, do link exchanges , buy some good links from a high traffic website, put it in your forum's signatures, do SEO (Search Engine Optimisation ) to generate a traffic from search engines like google yahoo msn. good luck
From my personal point of view, there are several methods to promote your site, but off couse, your site must have something unique. 1) Online promotion/SEO Focus on link building, exchange links with related sites, attract spider to crawl your site on daily basis and try to "convince" your visitors as a team for your marketing plan. Youtube did it, rapidshare did it and i am sure you can do it. 2) Offline promotion Usually this will be the first hit for your site. Promote your site to your friends and if your friends are willing to offer their helping hand, this might be a good start. Off course, you can consider spend some cash on newspaper. 3) Mouth to mouth advertising This will be the final step and very similiar with mlm concept. Just imagine A promote your site to 10 ppls and those ppls promote your site to another 10 ppls each. Hope this help.

Try writing and submitting some related articles to ezinearticles.com. Be sure to include a link to your site at the end of the article. Works good for me.
getting traffic from search engines is most important but you can get lots of traffic from Signatures!
