Just today morning, I had my snacks and coffee in a nearby restaurant, since I had some work outdoors. Now, when the person in charge handed over the bill, I realised that he forgot to add the snack amount and instead had charged me only for the coffee. I immediately asked him to make a correction in the bill. Now my question to you is,did you ever come accross a similar incident and if yes were you sincere to bring the mistake to his notice or did you quietly pay only for what the bill says, inspite of knowing that you had to pay more. I need a frank opinion from you all readers out there in DP.
If it's somewhere I go regularly then I'd let them know they made a mistake. But if it's a faceless company/shop then I'll take the savings and run.
yeh, sometimes when i buy stuff at a shop, they give incorrect change, if in my favour i dont say anything, but if they gain money then i will correct them
I haven't yet come upon an opportunity like that. But I have been overcharged before and haven't said anything about it.. not really my thing. The price tag said $3 for the pack of 20 cherry ripes, the receipt said $7
I always do - I think to myself that there's a possibility that the shop assistant might be accused of dishonesty or have to make up the shortfall. I remember being in a bar once and paying for a £6 round of drinks with a £10 note. The barman, who I knew as a regular customer, mistakenly gave me £14 change thinking I'd paid with a £20 note. I didn't hesistate to point out his mistake and he was very appreciative I did!
I always correct things like this. I can't eat something that I didn't pay for when I should have. --Joe
I once got 50 extra postage stamps than I was supposed to, and I only discovered it when I was a long way from the shop... went back and returned them though. (Yeah, my halo is showing) If it's just a tiny bit over or under charged I probably wouldn't bother, but for anything much I do. I'd hate the poor person who served me to be up for making it up out of their own pocket, as I'm sure a lot of them have to. Or a struggling shop keeper making a loss. I'm from Adelaide too, Eli B. Wow! $7 for a pack of cherry ripes?!!! I would have complained.
