I was a gym member for about 10 years until about 2 years ago when work took over and the gym went down hill slightly, so I left. But at the begining of this year I decided I needed to get out of the house more and realised I missed going swimming so me and my hubby joined a spa and leisure club. We paid for the whole year in advance and it cost us about £1200. For that we have the leisure club with a gym and large swimming pool. We also get the heat and ice experience which includes 3 times of steam rooms, 2 saunas and a huge hydrotherapy pool. Plus they have great showers and you get big fluffy towels and robes too. I also started personal training sessions a few weeks ago and my trainer is teaching me to box. I am loving it - apparently I have a very good right hook. If you want to look it up, the place is called Whittlebury Hall in Northants. Mich.
My gym is alright sized, but used to feel huge because not many people where there most of the time. Couple of months back they got 3 big plasma tv's and a sound system and it's hooked to a music channel on foxtel. Ever since that there has been almost a double in the amount of people at the gym everyday. Equipment is still the same...
The gym is usually packed, meaning 20-30 people, but there's still a 10:1 ratio for machines per person, so everyone gets along well. How much do you pay per month?
God, is that a gym, or a room with a stairmaster and a few water-filled plastic milk jugs for weights
Run/Owned by the city/town donated by a trust type of thing. I keep requesting bigger dumb bells but they have yet to come. We don't even have a decline or incline bench! A smyth, 2 benches, 3 utility benches, some ab type benches, dip/pull up station, dumb bells. Actually have to use the ad decline type bench for doing decline dumb bell work! Machines down stairs but for the most part I hate machines!
That's what we have! Seriously, let me tell you about the 'best' gym in this town. It's at the hockey rink. This building has 2 hockey rinks. Upstairs, between the 2 rinks there is a 0.10 mile oval walking/running track. The 'gym' is inside the track - and it only takes up maybe half of the area inside the track! The track is actually rather nice for running (as long as you can run on a .10 mile track and still maintain your sanity! ) but the gym is worthless!
lol Thats pretty sad. A squat rack is a natural necessity in ANY gym, including basic incline and decline benches. Is there any other gyms in the area besides the one you go to now?
I pay less than $10 (may be $9.xx if you convert Rs in $). The gym is just ok, not one of the best in town. The better one charge double of that money.
i m paying around $20 per month and its one of the best gyms in my city.I should say there are rocking girls
lol yeah I know it's very sad! Plus dumb bells that only go up to 100 pounds. The next closest gym is like 35 minutes away, several of them just don't like having to travel 35 minutes to get to a gym. I have an incline/decline at home plus squat rack if I really need it, I just like lifing at the gym more so than at home. A new 24 hour gym was supposed to come into to town, but for some reason that didn't go through! Hopeful that our ummm suggestions will be heard at the gym and a squat rack, incline, decline, etc will finally be brought in. How I'd kill for a power rack for shrug day. I hate dead lifting that weight up, especially since in my routine it's the day after I do squats and deads anyways, my lower back is already a bit sore I've hit my max in so many ways simply because no equipment to help me gain, all I can do is maintain which sucks!
