linkforever.net's mod hangs up my directory!

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same problem:

I installed linkforever's sponsor mod (the one for text ads and banners) which you have to pay $10 for on their website. Anyone with this mod knows that you have the option of scrolling text ads or still text ads. Whenever I enable the scroll javascript feature for the text ads, my site hangs up and is pretty much dead. Where your browser shows how many items left to load the page, mine shows 1 item to load and just hangs up about 99% of the time.

When I disable the scroll feature, my site zips around like lightning.

Linkforever.net told me that the javascript is crap and he's surprised it even works. Funny that he thinks that way because its his code exactly.

I was hoping somebody here has experienced the same problem and found the solution.

Isn't that a paid mod, whose code you are revealing like that? :(

And did you contact him for the problem before you opened a thread here?

Overall I am happy with linkforever's mods its just that I would like this issue fixed. It is a good mod if I can get it to work properly. I dont think that by posting the javascript for the scrolling feature somebody is going to all of a sudden have a text and banner sponsor mod for their directory....

Nobody could do anything with just this code...but I took it down anyway since everyone thinks that it gives away the entire mod.. ??

Anyway, as I said in my original post, I already contacted them and they said that the javascript was all screwed up but they could not support it since they did not do the actual install. But the javascript file is the same exact unmodified file downloaded right from their site.

First take of the code as you are violating ethics!

Always contact the MOD provider before posting it in a public forum!

I am just wondering, who 'installed' the MOD for you?

    Was it you and dargre?

I only asked because of your DP sig - 'Script Installation Services'

    hehe

I installed the mod and the file which contains the javascript needs nothing other than to be uploaded. It needs no modification or configuration settings. So in case you think I screwed it up, you're wrong. I also downloaded the file again and reinstalled it from scratch and it still has the same problem.

Dargre's installation prices are reasonable, my advice is to pay him a few bucks to set it up properly.

Thi is amazing - I can't believe the guy is so shameless.
He asked by email about the problem and I cleared it to him 3 times.
Seems 3 times is not enough for him.
The mod was not installed by me.
The mod was installed not correctly to my installation guidelines.
JavaScript for scrolled ads is completely messed up - completely not my code.
The code is placed in wrong place.

    sitefever

How dare you write such stupid things.
My js code never used any marquee, etc. Do no LIE it's mine.
Go to the one who installed the mod and request correct installation.
You didn't even ask me to do it. Even though I was enough patient to clear it to you several times.
    SHAME ON YOU MAN. :(

This is good lesson for all
    :
If you can't install mod yourself - do not ask anyone alse than author for installation.
Who can know the script better than author? Also who can support it better than author.
It concerns all mods. Those by me, AnOn, VsDan, etc.
That's why I never install AnOn's mods, VSDan's or whoever.

AnOn I think he did the same with your JavaScript code.
I know your code and definetely it is not yours original in his dir.
What for is it loaded for each page instead of submit.php only?
Look at his directory html source code - it's so crazy...

I think he just messaged in English

Relax budd. Most of us know yourmod is working right. There are so many directories using the sponsor category mod. One directory cannot make your mod go all wrong. It has to be wrong installation

Don't worry about things Derek. I think the OP just had one too few beers last night is all. (maybe when installing too hahaha)

I know we all know each others code and how to work inside and outside of it, and if ever a question should arise, we can always ask each other and communicate ;)

It's saturday, so relax and enjoy your weekend.

I disagree, I could have easily taken that code, made it my own and sold it on or even given it free. I know you never meant any harm showing it and these guys are perhaps not seeing that but they put in good hours doing them so be fair. Just be a little more careful even though you are frustrated as the mod doesn't work, you'll see people will come to help way quicker. :)

Dude my advice is just pay the small price its worth it I guarantee you. Many graduates of school or universities work for money and its understandable unless your father is Bill Gates and you don't even have to be in this Directory Business.

    Just my 2 cents
