Hey, just thought i'll share this with everyone and also get some opinions.. Just over a year ago, my site was getting about 10~ cents a click, so I was using the icons next to ads method to boost clicks, which got me good CTR hence ok earnings, up until google banned that method. Since then, my CTR has dropped to around 0.70% - 0.90%, but the CPC has been steadily increasing, almost doubling every month, and this last week, it reached $1.50~ per click, and at some time begining of the day , about $2 a click. last year, I needed about 1500 clicks to earn me $100~ + daily, but now, im only getting 200-300 clicks daily and it has doubled my earnings... so my personal thought on all this is, if you send low quality clicks (tricking people to click) then your site's CPC will be very low, if you send high quality clicks to the advertisers and they convert well from your traffic, naturally, your site's CPC will go up too, so all those who ask what's the best paying keywords? it doesn't matter, it depends on the traffic you send them. I tried mortgage and meso contents before, though listed price for PPC were around $10~ - I barely get pass 20 cents for those keywords, whereas my current sites, where CPC used to be 10cents, are now over $1 Anyway, those are my thoughts, what do you guys think? before everyone asks what my site or topics are, I wont tell, so dont ask, although I don't think revealing my topics will make much difference to you since i believe it's quality of traffic rather than the topic, either way, I don't want to create competitions just before people scream "FAKE", here's a screenshot of today's earnings..
That's great! and you are right, better converting clicks will increase your CPC... BUT.. dont go buy a new car just yet - there is a good chance it can slide right back where it was..
AdSense is easy if you dont think about it. design like you would design. Write like you would write. once you conquer that, you will rack in the $$$
I think that is exactly what google smart pricing is.......low quality sites that don't send quality traffic get the low quality ads....the higher converting sites get the high quality and hence higher paying ads
too late the savings from adsense over the last 3 years has earned me enough for a house. The earning increase has been steady over the past 8 months, so im hoping it will continue to rise (which I highly doubt), but there's a good chance that it'll at least stay around this price. but yeah, I agree, cannot put all your hopes and dreams onto this. anything can happen. just over 2 months ago, I was banned by google, after 3 emails nagging them to re-instate me, I got back in.
do the maths less than 1% click through is what im getting, but remember, the CTR is based on impressions, not unique users. so let's say my site get 1000 user daily, with 1% click through, thats 10 clicks, but then each user views the page 10 times or I have 2 ad unit per page, then from that 1000 users, you can get 100-200 clicks
yes, for some topics it's pretty much depends on content too, such as myspace resource sites, they pay the lowest, mainly because there are just so many around, which drives the CPC down
things like "I wasnt aware of the rule", which was genuine because this rule was not explicitly stated in their TOS, I also explained that adsense earning is very important to me so I would have never breach their terms if I was aware of such rule. Be nice and explain your situation, and if the breach is nothing like invalid clicks. invalid clicks are big NO NOs! be patient, I sent them about 3 emails with no response (over 2 weeks), on the 4th email they responded with "ok, but this is your last chance" type of response.
Your visitors convert or not, that's something we don't have control on. And it depends a lot on the niche you deal with too. I have sites that range from entertainment to ultra niches, Ultra niches pay amazing, where as entertainment is just ok. I have no idea how they convert ~G
Thanks for all your sharing, really some new valuable points in this thread. I previously thought high paying keywords do matter. Now that it doesn't as much as I think, I'll stick to my niche better and get more targeted traffic so the visitors are more interested in the ads thus better conversion. -D
exactly right. So just do what your passionate about, that will make your content stand out from the rest, hence more targetted visitors, hence better conversions and ultimately, better CPC. To prove my point, I have 2 sites of exact topic, 1 site is 4 years old and has good traffic and been on adsense since day 1, this is the site getting $1.5+ per click, the other site is a few months old, same audience, same content, but average $0.20 a click. What I think of this is that your site's earning also get ranked on a point system, good rep/conversion = higher points, and this takes time, just like google's PR system. Then again, that is just my personal opinion
that's great. Thanks for sharing such information and I know I am doing right. I focus on quality content not the CTR.
