Today my site became a authority site. For so far as I can see it is only on my site name but still... an authority site. So what is the deal here? Will google now look kindly on me and my keywords? Will google grand me authority on my keywords? Will google now help me get even more traffic? Will someone please explain to me what google and I are now? Best friend?
Really. Just because you consider your site to be an authority, it doesn't mean that Google will do the same. Just out of interest, what criteria do you think a site needs to meet to be thought of as an 'authority'?
The links under you site when you are #1 on google list. Isn't that called an authority site.....? please check on google for "belbazaar", as I said, it's looks like only my site name.
As I check google.com I see i am not an authority site, it is only the google.nl as I am based in the Netherlands...
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=belbazaar my browser says that you are not. even http://www.google.nl/search?hl=en&q=belbazaar you are not.
if your site is no1 for a search term and your listing has a few more pages listed just under your desc. You are an authority.
check http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=belbazaar.. the site is dutch so it will apperently no show in english google
Only Google know what criteria your site needs to satisfy in order to become an authority. And only Google will know whether sitelinks are an indication that a site is an authority.
Meanwhile on http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=365479 I need people that understands Dutch. Can you help ?
Thanks! and sorry for the confusion.. But now what? will google like my keywords more? will google give more weight for my keywords? What is the deal with this authority?
Authority or not, you will still get the same treatment really, I think. If you have an authority site and there is slightly something wrong, then your site can still get penalized or banned. I have had 2 sites that rank #1 for hundreds of different keywords and I feel that nothing has changed.
Thanks john269, Maybe the only extra you get from an authority site is that people maybe tent to click quicker if there are links under the description. But as it is now, you only see it when you search for my domain name... so people all ready are looking for me.
the links you are talking about are called "sitelinks." See http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=47334 An authority site is a different thing, and there is no way you can actually know if you are one. Only Google knows ~~~ cheers ~ Denise
