Mate, If your not doing anything wrong, you've got nothing to worry about. On the other hand, if you are trying to cheat the system you need to take a good hard look at yourself.
It's only a site. I don't suspect it'll guarantee a ban but I think it's a tad extensive the great lengths some people will go to abuse a userbase :/
This is the lamest idea I've heard in a long time. A second-grader could write a routine to detect the same group of accounts voting for the same group of articles enmass. All your accounts/IPs are going to get banned.
its not the same group of people any more. its a random selection of 5 people, 5 differnt ip's, at 5 differnt times, or userbase is around 50ish now. and most of them are just dummy accouts people created, as for as having ip's banned. its the server ip that is banned not your home computer
this has been done before in a number of different ways by other webmaster communities, and they all get banned because you're cheating the community. i dont' see why this one wont get canned either.
I believe many of you are forgetting 1) this is still beta (were working on it) and 2) it is as much as a violation of the TOS of digg as the freebies forum on DP, yet no one is hasseling them, reporting them to digg trying to get them banned. IF you dont wanna be apart of it fine, great, good... leave us and those that do alone. PS our sql server is down becuse our 100% LEGIT (no diggmesh added diggs) is on digg, just because we made this system doesnt mean we use it to cheat. over 100k U/V today crippeled our wordpress and mysql
That sucks, you should try to cache content perhaps? It helps some... or get a better server, or tweak mysql. Depends. And I was just teasing about the hack, it is a cool idea. It's basically a co-op ad-network for digg. Soon you'll have a lot of users saying "I think diggmesh HURT my digg.. wth?!?" hahaha... just like the ad-network. =) I think you should come up with a windows client. I know that's probably a ton of work, but you could prolly get a LOT more users, no? Perhaps option to use TOR? If stupid bittorrent uses tor, why not you, at least you'll have a lower volume. You could package tor with your windows client. =)
