You bought a site supposedly making around 450 a month for 900 dollars.... If its too good to be true it probably is. My opinion.
Hopefully the guy will be willing to give you a refund. If nothing else, some people have had luck with sending a complaint letter to the attorney general's office, so that might be worth pursuing. If they're in the US, you can also file a police report since it's fraud. Another good way to fight back is by reporting them to google (if you know of another site of theirs). Good Luck!
You did the domain transfer I assume afew days ago into your name. Is it possible since then google has given you penalty treating it as a new site in such a short time?
It may be bad timing on your part -- My google adsense earnings have dropped Dramatically in the last few days -- I think some are affected and others are not??? Also, one of my Adwords campaigns (a profitable one of course--the jerks) Stopped showing content ads at the same time my Adsense earnings dried up. Don't know if my IP has been targetted or what -- but -- things have been really badddd on both ends (for me).
This was your first clue, I would have backed out right then! I am not sure there is much you can do, Paypal states clearly that they do not have protection unless it is a tangible product (websites are not). Someone mentioned the Attorney General, that is useless because you got the site and the domain name so you would have no real case. I can sell a business off line that I made $100,000 but unless I have a contract stating I guarantee you will make the same, you can lose your ass and their is no recourse. In all honesty, I do not see much you can do except try to build up the site. Nobody is going to sell a site making that much for that little, I think you were a little blind going in with dollar signs in your eyes. The site looks like a MFA site. There are more Google ads than content. Also, there is no need to start more than one thread about the same thing: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=365472 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=365452 I am sorry that it happened but you just bought yourself a life lesson and a very average site.
Yes if there is no solution and no help from the user don't forget to give the negative itrader , this will help us to be more secure.
Well, on the bright side, it's probably out of the sandbox! Try to build it up and promote it, and hopefully it'll work out for ya..good luck
No resolution yet as the seller still hasn't responded to me since and another buyer has come forward as being scammed as well.
I meant for dealing with paypal. Some people have had luck sending complaint letters against paypal to the attorney general. I should have made that more clear
