Becouse it whant's many resources Doesn't ofer something revolutionary The interface is copyed from linux or apple don't know exactly i think linux It's made by Microsux
Well I can say on one of my machines it does run faster. It's new memory caching system (caches common applications in memory) does improve performance when you're working with 2gb of ram. With XP it was simply not utilizing ram very well. I also like the better indexing service used for searches. It does not cause any slowdowns running (the os can now set priority on i/o operations) so it generally is pretty up to date and not slowing my machine to a crawl. Some annoyances have been drivers for some hardware. Creative makes horrible XP drivers and now they're making just as bad Vista drivers. So I've found several bugs with the audio drivers that weren't in xp while some xp bugs before are now gone. On the video side of things the Nvidia drivers have been somewhat sketchy for me when it comes to OpenGL performance. But very few games use OpenGL these days and the latest drivers fixed some of my OpenGL woes. Overall I'd say it is a better OS even without the fancy new interface the under the hood changes made most do not think exist or realize they can benefit from them will continue to cry nothing has changed.
1 simple answer from me. Its not that different or better than XP but it is resource hungry. I rather get a Vista based laptop and load XP on it. The speed and programs will run much better. The Herbalade Team
My personal reasons: 1. Some of my hardware doesn't work with Vista - notably my scanner (just a year old) and my digital camera. There are no Vista compatible drivers and the XP ones don't work. 2. Accessibility - Software which I need to be able to use the computer (screen reader) is still in the testing stage (which I'm participating in). 3. I'm against vista because it's frankly a shell of what it used to be when it was in its Longhorn days. Read some of the articles and ttake a look at the innerds of the early alphas and tell me that isn't technically more advanced than what's on the shelf now. H.
Everything I've read about Vista suggests that you should rather stay with XP. My general experience with Windows updates is that they tend to make things worse rather than better, so I'll stick with XP.
I don't like it now but am looking forward to using it in a few years beacause: 1. Software and Hardware compatability issues 2. Memory guzzling traits When XP was new, there were similar issues and now they're (mostly) sorted so I will definately become a vista lover soon.
I'm using Vista now as my main OS. I dual boot with XP. I definitely prefer the security enhancements in Vista, and the new firewall is a big step forward from the lousy XP version. It is even running fine for day to day use with 1GB ram. I've had no problems with my hardware, and it has been rock solid.
For me I can't maintain software written using VisualStudio 2003 under it and I am not prepared to rewrite tons of software just so I can use Vista with it's nice Aero Interface. Microsofts Solution is to use a VM running Windows XP.... Which begs the question, If I have to run a VM running XP why upgrade?
We waited 5 years for what? A new interface? Not to mention office has the most retarded menus in the world... takes me ages to find anything - plus I couldn't find an option to switch to "traditional" toolbars (although I was using the beta, maybe they fixed this for the final build)
It's a pig. Oh sorry, I just insulted pigs. I wasted about $300 on it as I recall (business edition) and then went out, bought a new hard drive, remove the Vista drive and installed XP Pro on the new drive. I couldn't take all the messages. And when I turned it off, I still got all kinds of junk. It even asked me if I wanted to block my mouse. After all this time, we get very little bang for the buck. /*tom*/
longcall911, you should have just bought OEM disc instead. Vista Business OEM license is only $140. Home Premium is about $120. It's sold at tigerdirect, newegg and even amazon.com. Anyway, Vista has a lot of small improvements, which enhance my performance. It's not just new interface. I agree though that Vista doesn't improve on old hardwares, but on new hardwares, it rocks because it fully utilizes the hardwares to improve performance and security. It's best bang for my buck because my hardware's life is not wasted on idle.
